So for those of you who might be thinking about undertaking this project I created a spread sheet to track all my costs and give you an idea of what you will spend to get this done. If you can pick up a wrecked FJ80 with lockers and the engine is still good then you can make this work for very little cost. A couple of things that are not listed are radiator hoses and some of the fluids. I'm sure I missed a couple other things so feel free to ask questions. I did get $75 in Autozone gift cards by ordering parts from their website. Got free shipping to my house on those too. I was very frugal and worked hard to keep my costs down by reusing as many parts as I could. You could actually do better if you are more patient than me in the parting out phase, but I was on a time crunch to get everything out of my garage and yard because we had an appraisal coming. You could actually come out on top and maybe have some money towards tires. You can see with buying tires I am still under $2k out of pocket. considering tires were $1300 that is pretty good. Only $600 of my own money to get it driving. I did my own exhaust and used auto zone points to get a free muffler!!!

I will give more details and pics once I get things cleaned up. Again feel free to ask questions. I'll do my best to answer.

Saw that after I posted it. Forgot I sold that to help out a little.

Nice rig and well done!

Got some 2003 land rover disco seats today. All power with heaters. Tan leather with the brown striping around the edges. Should go really well in the terd and match the interior. Got the whole set fronts and back for $380.

Thanks Travis. I debated for hours on how to put those things in. The larger bench part (60% side) is stinking heavy.

I need to add some bump stops, do some painting, put the carpet back. Before I put the carpet back I want to add some dense padding with the heat reduction foil to quiet everything down. I'm also going to add sound dreading stuff to the inside of the doors and back panels.

The NV4500 is a noisy tranny. It's cool but the noise drivers me nuts. If I can't reduce the noise to a level that's expectable for me. I might be selling the NV4500/split case combo and go with a 700R4/split case set up.

Very nice!

Thanks. The disco seats fit very nicely and they are very comfortable. If anyone finds a set I highly recommend getting them. I can walk you through how to fit them in. And how to do the electrical.

Look what I put in! It's just the knob. I need to wire everything still. But it sure does look cool in a 60. It's like it was meant to be there.

Great execution of this project, done in the blink of a eye;)...

When I was at Radd Cruisers I measured up a couple 80s and s60 frames, this is exactly how I would of did this conversion if I would of jumped into a simular project..

Only thing I might of done is an extra brace on the front stiffener bar...they tend to crack on the 80s with big tires...

Those seats are a super deal, really dig them..
