I dunno. I just saved that photo from the for sale listing on Facebook and shared it because the OP didnt. I know nothing about this rig other than it was for sale recently and OP bought it…..and i like it!

So I just got home with it late sunday.
@mustcamp was kind enough to take off work early monday afternoon so we could take it on a shake down run. The closest place was Pimso Beach so we went there.

We were able to determine that it has a couple of bad Hiem joints on the front upper links, and I'm sure that has a lot to do with the twitchy steering feeling.

There's also some noise coming from the front driveshaft and that needs to be look into. it's also rubbing on the upper front link at full stuff 🤨

There a random no start issue most likely the starter motor as it does not sound healthy.

The motor runs really strong and stayed cool runny it hard in the sand and the transmission shifts well as does the transfer case. both Detroit locker were working like they should 😎
As expected there's a few thing to address but over all it seem like a solid Rig.

I was thinking Cliffhanger but I didn’t recognize that obstacle.

The Cruiser sounds like a lot of fun, @Broski. Are you keeping your 80?

It looks like Cliff hanger in Moab 😎

The seller said that’s the way full hydro is and I would get used to it. I’m thinking not.

I helped a buddy set up an Aust4 buggy ( ultra4, but in Australia).

Full hydro felt slightly vague, more like a boat.
The whole buggy was twitchy/ unpredictable until shocks were tuned and dialed in.
Once dialed in, it was predictable at high speed, but you're forever chasing the steering with constant steering wheel input to keep it pointed where you want it

Not sure if I'm checking this right, and if I am how much caster should it have ?

I also set mine from the top of the arm. I've got mine at 4.5* right now, and am have to back it down to 2-3* and put a little be of toe in it. Right now I have the toe at 0, and I know its supposed to be 1/8-1/4" in, but its darting pretty good on the highway. Not "HOLY SH#$T white knuckle", but could be a lot better. With your buggy, I would say it comes to to seat of the pants feel, but thats just me.

I will have to check the toe as well.
I will try the top of the arm’s and see if there’s a difference.
Definitely not happy the way it is but there’s some bad Hiem’s that need to be addressed.
Thanks for the reply’s

Might seem obvious, but may get overlooked - make sure its on level ground. Even if you garage floor is sloped 1 or 2 degrees, that can throw your reading off.

Or even different tire pressure in front/rear can slant the vehicle fore or aft, which will also change that reading.

I set mine on Top of the steering arms And have Mine set at 6* with 40 inch tires and it drives really nice .

So it's been a minute but some parts have be procured and I'm starting work on the buggy.
First thing is the Hiem's on the upper control arm's there 5/8 with a 1 3/4" mounting space. But the more standard size is the 5/8 with a 2" mounting space.
Poly Performance had them and there local to me which is good because the first one weren't the right ones and I was able to exchange them with out the shipping hassle.

Got them set up at the same length as before.
Again not sure if I'm doing correctly but I put the bolt through both ends and when I had three equal measurement, both outsides and center between the bolts I was happy with it.

I agree, 6 deg is better for caster and larger tires.
It’s one of the next things I will be working on.
Any suggestions on if I should be just adjusting the tops or just the bottom control arms.
Or both top and bottom equally?
Thanks in advance
