I wonder if you could get security button heads in that size with the oxide coating... Off to McMaster.

I think we have a winner with the design. It speaks to me.

I own a outdoor store and I sell and install many yakiama/thule racks. I have no reservations on this design. There are many clamping points, the rails are solid pieces of auluinum and there are like 8 crossbars. Worst case Ontario this is a rock solid rack (Let's see who gets that Canadian pun).

How much clearance is there at this end? Also - how much clearance under the 8 extrusion rails - think the stock ribs would clear?

How much total height to the peak of the roof does the rack add?

Is the TEQ logo part of every manufacturing batch?

Looks great!

looks sweet... Love the roof rack... I think....

Alright guys. I love the excitement about this rack. I was able to spend some good time inspecting it over the weekend, and for any of you worried about the strength of the bolt together design, you're worried for no reason. This thing is wicked solid. These racks have been used for a while now with the Tacoma/FJ Cruiser crowd and if they were going to loosen up we'd have heard about it by now. Besides, a dab of Loctite will solve any of those issues.

I can also promise that the quality is every bit as nice as it looks like in the photos. I have no stake in this thing so I have no reason to blow smoke about the quality or anything else. I'm not getting anything from any sales, I'm just fortunate to have the first one.

I'll answer a couple questions that have been raised. Clearance under the rack is about 1.25" above the roof. The stock ribs fit fine and there's no risk of the rack touching the roof. However, when I installed my RTT yesterday it was a tight fit for the bolts to secure the tent. It fit fine but it's close and it makes it a little tricky to reach the nuts to tighten it down. But that's totally fine with me. I'll gladly deal with a little more effort to attach a tent in exchange for a quality LOW PROFILE rack like this.

Someone also asked about clearance under the rear-most crossbar and referenced the photo. That crossbar is the same as the rest of the crossbars it has just been turned vertically to allow for easier attachment for things like lights etc. It can be rotated the other way to be the same as the other ones and increase the clearance 2x. the great thing about this rack is since it's bolt together you can change the crossbar configuration or move or remove any of them at any time. So if you don't want one blocking the sunroof, or you want 2-3 very close together you can do that.

the crossbars are 8020 extrusions with tapped ends and dual t-slots in the top/bottom and another t-slot on each side.

As for weight, I believe this rack will have greater load capacity than any other rack on the market. But it's a roofrack and it's not good practice to carry heavy loads on the roof anyway, so it will be more than capable of any reasonable roof load.

I think Zach plans to offer the TEQ logo to be cut into these if you'd like it but I'm guessing you could request it without if you didn't want it.

Wow, that rack looks really nice! I put a Surco Safari rack on our Jeep - because I liked using an AL basket, as opposed to a heavier steel rack. I've got the stock rack on the FJ80 - I may need to start budgeting for one of these.

Just to be clear - this is what I meant by ribs... Still think it would clear?

Boy is that a beautiful rack. I've been trying to decide on a rack and as much as I like the basket style racks, this one makes me think about a flat. Your truck is looking great!

update. Just got word from Zach that he has added 1" to the height of the production racks so that there is proper clearance for the stock roof ribs.

I'm curious if this will clear the full factory roof rack?
