Let me remind people that if you do find yourself in a place where you might not have high octane fuel for a half tank or a fill up, it is still your Right foot that controls the boost. If you drive easy and stay out of boost you do not need high octane fuel. I have had 1 situation when premium fuel wasn't available. I was in the middle of Texas, 1 fill station, premium pump was out of order, I filled with regular and it is just fine.

Ok dumb question but in case you can't get higher octane fuel on a longer trip couldn't you just always carry some Lucas Octane booster with you as a back up?

In this situation would octane booster benefit you?

Yes it would buy you a little extra insurance if you were towing a trailer or loaded down really heavily or something like that where the boost was needed.

Off the shelf toluene from any home improvement store = 1g of 116 octane solvent.

Due to whatever the meth/crack/xtc monkeys -do to refine their junk, you may be asked to produce ID / isn’t as dead common at EVERY paint dept as it was ~6-10yrs ago. Price is cheaper than auto store stuff though.

HTH all those who find themself in any similar situation.

/end tangent

Yeah , but we all don’t have a methanol injection button for emergency situations. ;)

Ryan, don't think I've seen it mentioned.
Is it planned to run coolant water through the turbo housing, or just rely on oil flow for cooling?

Also, are you choosing the 76.20 or 79.76mm turbine wheel OD on the S300SX-E?

So there isn't a working prototype yet? I thought I read through the whole thread a while back, and I see you guys talking about CARB certification and production, and am wondering if I missed the part where there's a running example. :(

There is a test truck running a Cummins turbo and CX Racing manifold. From that build we quickly learned that bolt on was NOT possible with off the shelf components. Not everyone has access to a full machine shop, CNC and welder. That build helped me determine what was needed to make it a full production bolt on kit. That kit is what I am building now.

The CARB compliance is a longer process which may or may not affect various components.

I know nothing of CARB; I would assume that you need a running example of the finished product for them to test, or is the length of the process mostly paperwork?

Also... if there was a way to make a positive displacement supercharger work with your York OBA and still hit your target HP/TQ and cost, would you have gone that route instead?

Running example and certification.

York + Turbo =

I was about to mention how impressed I was with that engine stand, but then I saw the additional support on the right side lol

To the issue of CARB compliance - Are you planning to sell kits prior to getting the approval or are you going hold off until you have it in hand?

Since so many of us are in non-referee/smogged areas, a CARB plate wouldn’t mean a thing either way.
