Bolt-in high performance FJ62 exhaust

Given that you'd retain the factory locations for the O2 sensors (good plan too, given the reasons you cited), do you think it'd be beneficial to use a 2-to-1 cat, or Ypipe the exhaust before getting to the cat?
Either way would work fine as long as we pick the right size catalytic converter. If it's anything like the FZJ80, the y-pipe assembly will be the most time consuming & expensive part of the system to manufacture. We can tackle that once we start looking at an FJ62's undercarriage & designing the system.

IMHO, the 62 is a far simpler beast and has significantly more room to work with.

me 3.

I failed emissions inspection here in NY due to the exhaust.

Looking to replace it very, very soon.

Any idea on pricing ?

Check the emissions laws especially in California. I asked this question once and the smog tech said that the car is supposed to have 2 cats and that it wouldn't pass visual. I am not saying that it can't be done, or has never been done or is not beneficial to do but is it legal? Does this include cats as well?

Hmm. Makes me think I should check my local law too. MAF is working on a new one too--and if it's like the old one they had (but aren't selling now) it's single cat too.

And bolt on full system two cats on the market?

I'm not ready quite yet, and don't have the cash now, but if this were available when mine goes it would have the pole position.

Add another "very interested" to the list. :D

Looks like there is some interest for this. We will start looking for a test vehicle in the coming weeks to start the prototype.

Would love to look into one of these. Pretty pricey, though, for the full gig. Might do the y-pipe back and have my local shop fab up something for the rest since they do work for pretty cheap.

My recently picked-up rig still has the factory exhaust with 224K miles.

I'm also in, depending on price of course. The SS is a big selling point for me. I've talked to a couple shops around here and none seemed to interested in doing it in stainless. I'm not sure where I'm at on the catalyst no catalyst debate. I don't need it here but some shops I've talked to say to keep them.

Exhaust is getting close to the top of my list. Probably early 2011.

Keep me posted when you are ready to roll. I wish I was still living in Austin I would definitely volunteer my rig.

We can build them both with and without catalytic converters (single or dual). That shouldn't be a problem at all.

Talked to mmw68 and it looks like he is up for letting us use his truck for protyping. This should be a production item in the next couple of months, so keep your eyes peeled. I'll post updates in this thread after mmw68's truck is dropped off and we get started on the prototype process.

Keep the catalytic converter. Having a cleaner exhaust is a good thing. One other bonus with this exhaust is the mandrel bending of the pipes. Most exhaust shops don't use a mandrel bender (read expensive) and as a result, the bends are not smooth and will restrict exhaust flow.

I agree, modern high flow cats in a single version will filter just as well or better than the dual cats but will restrict VERY little.

In my other hobby, the gents going to long tubes on their LS motors are using high flow cats, passing the sniffer nad not making any less power than "test pipes"
