How much work would involve the cutting off the 60 cab right just behind the front seats and welding on a panel to make the 60 look like a truck without a bed?

cut .. cut ..more cut ...then weld cut weld some more ... then weld some more ;) till it fits. post lots of pics

If I do that much cutting you can know that next to none of it would go back on. It would just be a bunch of tube.

if we hadn't traded ... it would look F-toyish with all the body gone but the floor firewall, hood and grill. The cage filled in and alum sides:grinpimp:

OK well got a little done this weekend, not really much but it is something.

1.) Got bored and pulled the carrier out if the rear end and decided to weld all the gears up inside it to create a Hobart orb of traction. Figured if I screwed it up I could just drop a locker or mini spool in it. Now I only welded the spiders and side gears to each other and nit the carrier so that I wouldn't trash it.

2.) The full float is nice and saves me a bunch of hassel when pulling the shafts out to service something, don't even need to pull the tires.

3.) I got the orb pretty hot as you can see but I have faith.

1.) Just melting some metal

2.) As you can see its pretty hot in there. I was trying to make sure most all of it was filled and had no place to allow a weak spot.

3.) It looks pretty terrible but I was using flux so that is why. I will clean it up and finish it then clean it real well a last time and knock off all of the slag and then drop it in.

I tacked it all before pulling it out so as long as it didn't warp to much it will drop back in. I have faith it will be fine once cleaned up. And if not it's still a cheap easy fix since I didn't weld the carrier.

I'll clean it all up before really assembly. Can blast it if needed, not a big deal. May have access to a parts shaker too.. maybe...

good thread

When you had the fenders off, there was not much 60 left to make it look like a 60 LOL.

I wonder if a simple vacuum mold could be made to make quick and easy replacement front fenders out of thermo plastic?

Cost more than I would want to put into it. Not to mention the time to modify a factory set of fenders to line up right and be cut right to clear. If I take the time I'll keep the metal on there. I like it better with the fenders just not large on my list, so for the time it shall remain fenderless.

Few weeks ago got some new wheels in again so I could keep my boggers on the truck thanks to Joel I didn't kill myself on the price.

Got the correct caliper brackets from ruff stuff and my Chevy calipers all mounted and painted up. Had to grind a lot to fit the 15's but they will work just fine.

:EDIT: Not sure why the last 3 pictures are sideways... rotate them to the right 90* and thats the angle they were taken.

As you can see my math was correct on the proper width and back spacing to account for the much wider rear axle. And you can also see what the other side will look like when I get the wheel painted to match also. Lol

And here are some pictures someone sent to my phone today. I had some stuff listed on CL and my truck was in the shot so he sent me some pics he took at the 2011 LSLC Round Up of me. He was a jeeper. (In the YJ on some 40's and H2 wheels. His friend had the stock YJ that busted the rear shaft later that day for those if you that were there.)

Well last night I pulled the trigger....

Went and ponied up and bit the bullet. Picked up a set of one tons for the truggy. Chevy passenger drop kingpin (they all are) Dana 60 with factory 4.56 gears and welded up spiders, and another GM Corp 14 bolt full floater with factory 4.56 gears and Detroit locker. Guess the axle under the truck now will go under Fiona since it is all set up already for spring over and what not. and then the new 14 Bolt will go under the truggy since it is already set up with the gearing I want that matches the current gearing and will match the gearing of the D60 when I get it under the truck. If the D60 had 4.10's I would just leave the current 14 under the truck but since It doesnt I will upgrade both trucks. pics to follow.

Fawkin Awsome ... Need pics I guess you need two more wheels

1.) Warn premium locking hubs.
