Got the axle and Long sent out today and included a note that I wanted some lifetime wiper seals when they shipped it back with a new axle set. Can't wait to have a pimpin leak free front axle with the best parts on the market.

Emailed, called and left a voice mail, and posted on Marlin's facebook page as I'm trying to order some things from them and still no reply. Usually they get back with me within the same day, hopefully I will hear from them tomorrow.

Need to put a order into Trail Gear to order some new ARP studs, cone washers, wave washer and nuts still, as well as some of their cool rock rings to protect my lifetime seals I will be getting from bobby. Probably do that here in a bit, may buy some other goodies while I'm in the money spending mood since I aint got a GF or wife to buy for on todays fake holiday for women.

No pictures just an update is all.

The knuckle rebuild kit I used was from Marlin ... But it was 8 or 9 years ago it set on the Shelf forever

I am wanting to buy the knuckle seal kit which looks to be everything but the trunion and wheel bearings not to mention its only 39 bones, the knuckle kit is 99 bones and only includes trunion bearings and races. my truinions are still fine buy I may be forced to buy the complete kit. I really dont want to tho damnit! :bang::bang::bang:

That's what I'm sayin it got the whole kit bearings and all when the Boggers were put on .... So 5 or 6 trips ago... Well from when you got it anyway

Even more of a reason for me to only need the seal kit. and I only have a couple that need replaced since I wont be doing a complete tear down of the bearings and all.

Finally heard back from Marlin Crawler today and talked with Brendan (Freds40), apparently they wont have the knuckle seal kit in for about a month and that is to long. So I ordered the basic kit with just trunion bearings for $99 ($111.xx after shipping) its more than I wanted to spend and more than I need but I needed a couple of seals and a few extras and extra bearings never hurt to have around either.

Also ordered some other crap I needed and a couple I wanted.

Got me the thick "rock ring" felt covers to protect the fancy new "lifetime knuckle wipers" I am getting from Bobby Long at Longfield Superaxles. The rock rings are 1/8" thick vs the paper thin ones like OEM. Then a couple of spare shackles to have around I figured was a good idea.

If I have to spend any more money on this truck any time soon Im gonna cut all the sheet metal off of it and throw a driver drop D60 out back so I can have rear steer and a passenger offset. a 14B is in the plans tho so cost for that will be accepted.

Just do it that would be cool

They dropped the shipping from 32.94 to 13.96 Who hoo!!The new total to my card was 166.10 and it and the stuff from marlin both went out today. That change in shipping just paid for the 2 shackles I got but didnt "need" Pimp! :grinpimp:

And Joel, hopefully the 14B goes in first, if nothing else I can make it a steer 14B using D60 outters and it would be pretty much bomb proof and an amazing rear axle. All in due time all in time. Links before steer. I am gonna move the front wheelbase forward after round up tho, might do a SR to gain a little extra clearance while Im there too, and I might even have some 60 rear springs I can put up front. or maybe some XJ rear springs, I want some offset to move the axle forward but still be longer than whats up there.

As long as it ready by Round up ... All of em

Ordered some goodies from Ruff Stuff. :grinpimp:

Sweet

Got all of my stuff in this last week and the last of the stuff showed up yesterday.

I can say that the heavy duty felt cover thingys from trail gear are freaking BEEEEF! they are gonna be a very nice improvement and that also means no more bent up plates causing possible leaks.

the stuff from Ruff Stuff showed up yesterday as well as my new 30 spline long axle and birf. the stuff from marlin was the first to show.

I was a little disappointed tho when I saw that the new long axle wasnt polished like the last one but no one will ever see it and as long as it holds I dont care.

Then I noticed this little note in there. Never heard of this before... but he still warranty's them so I guess its all good. and technically I am still in the 39" range at 39.5...

Think that was in my paper work too ... Are you done yet;)

Here in haslet having dinner with tony (djinn) got the new seals on the driver side and axle and birf in. Then found passenger knuckle is ruined. When the studs loosened it wallered out the holes, or maybe they were already kinda that way and it was to little to late so I gotta put a knuckle on over there so I left it apart in his driveway.

Dude your killin me ... But that is why I torq my studs every trip... You need a knuckle to use I got one you can use if you replace it

Yea I think I damaged them when they got just a tiny bit loose before but this time was really really bad. Got a knuckle and tony's neighbor let me use his media blaster and I tossed some paint on. And I will finish it tomorrow and it will be good. Those seals from bobby are a pain to put in but I think they are gonna rock.

Forgot to mention, the backing plates from Trail Gear are freaking AWESOME! the "Rock Guards" the thickness of them REALLY helped me to be able to put on bobby's "lifetime wiper seal" on the the one side I did to since they dont deform if you look at them wrong. WELL worth the 20 bones I paid for them. Then I also ordered all brand new stainless bolts that are slightly longer which was another 30 bucks but worth it to me as it saved me time, I knew they fit, and they were still a 10mm head and are slightly longer to accommodate for the thicker rings.

I really suggest the rings and bobby's seals. I also found I have a sticking (bad) RF caliper hopefully the spare I got is still good otherwise I will be buying a new one.

all this work really is worth it tho as it should be a bullet proof front end again. I have been taking extra special care to clean and tighten all of the knuckle studs and holes and putting ample amounts of the permatex RED thread locker (dont remember the number but it said temp of 500*F for removal to break it down) stuff should be great for the application I hope I took some time reading the different ones and this was the best fit I found on the shelf.

Got some good work done this weekend thanks to Tony and his neighbor Gary.

Today I finished up putting the driver side together and got the new knuckle all painted up and ARP studs installed and locked in with thread locker.

Had some problems along the way. Like lost one of my new stainless bolts and broke another off into the new used knuckle. Then get past all that only to find the damn threads for the brake caliper are stripped. Ran a 1/2-20 tap down it and got some bolts and guess what... to much play!! Couldn't tighten them. Got em in good enough to get onto the trailer and call it a night. I will deal with tapping it again and finding a proper bolt another day.

Now fir some pictures!

The old and damaged knuckle with ovaled knuckle holes and one broke off.

It somehow busted the upper race and a couple of rollers in the bearing.
