Never had a problem with it popping out of 4wd and I have had 2 tires off the ground and twisted up enough to stall the ram where you cant turn the wheel. As for color it will stay orange unless I come across something else that tickles my fancy, I just want to freshen up the paint again, so Ill wash it all again and get all the mud off then paint it all back up again.

just wanted to make sure ....;) I think red to match the Dodge would be great :p

I already got 2 red vehicles.

worked on th truck this weekend...

pulled it apart and took the third from the front of Fiona and put it in the truggy got it full of gear lube today and drove it around for a while. 1.) to warm it up and try to diagnose a stumbling problem I have been having that worsens till it dies and then wont start. 2.) to test out the front locker.

before when driving around with the hubs locked and in 2wd when turning the front end would make terrible noises, after finding both axles to be in good condition I narrowed it down to a damaged front locker so that is why I swapped em.

First impressions no more noise with front hubs locked and when turning to that is good. it is now an aussie locker instead of the detroit and out back is now a detroit instead of the busted welded rear.

It also now climbs up onto the trailer like it should but I tried to crawl a light pole (urban wheeling oh yea! LOL) but it wouldnt climb on the driver side which is the side that I was having the most issues with... so low range and 4wd and driving in circles i have a poping noise again!
I am thinking at this point the driver side hub is busted or something, I didnt check it really. All I did was pull the cover off but never actually pulled the hub off, I just assumed that since it wasnt grenaded and since I saw no damage on the end of the birf the hub gear was fine, but now I am thinking I may have damaged the hub gear. It feels like the passenger side is pulling but not driver.

AAND I still havent figured out the freaking stumbling issue, I think something to do with the propane but not sure what still.

I like the orange

me too ... thats why I want him to change it :p

man I hope you get it figured out.... the BJ42 still down so I feel your pain

For the hub (if that is what the issue is in the driveline) I can steal one from my poor Fiona. It really hurts taking parts from her tho, I think I need to buy a parts truck so I can strip it and get rid of the rest. For the stumble issue Im still at a loss and need that addressed before round up.

It is a love hate relationship for sure.

I'm starting to have a hate and hate more relation ship :bang:

I traded a whole FJ60 parts truck for factory disk brake hub caps and wheels :hillbilly: cause I was tired of lookin at it

Tore into the front axle AGAIN this weekend after having swapped the front and rear thirds for good ones with functioning lockers, but I was still having a no drive issue at the left front tire and was ready to cry!

A couple of questions to Joel then a suggestion from him of what to check, and a call to Bobby Long who answered the phone himself and offered me some amazing customer service by the way, it was decided I had to take the front end apart again. When it was apart last the splines on the birf were good and so were the ones at the diff end but I was told I needed to check the ones INSIDE the birf ones I would have thought to go last.

Well I got it separated and found the problem, the pictures tell that story. good news is they are covered under warranty and Bobby told me to just send em in and he will send me out a replacement.

Didn't I say it wasn't the locker :p ... Sorry it's broke glad you got it figured out

Well the front detroit locker was broken also, because in 4wd there was ZERO front drive, after I swapped thirds I had drive on the right front just not the left. And if the locker was still working properly it wouldnt matter if I even had an axle shaft on the other side it would still lock up which it would attempt but I could hold it from spinning with my hands.

Oh yea so I swapped a stock shaft back into her and drove it around to make sure it was fixed and TADA!! it was. so I decided to drive it around town for a while to test and try to figure out the stumble problem. Good news is it didnt try and start stumbling on me and I even drove around in a dirt field some with some small climbs to make sure the locker was working. Bad new is when I got back home the passenger side knuckle studs has loosened up and sheered off one of the ARP studs. :bang:

Joel said I win when I told him.... I told him I didnt want to win and I called it a fail in my book. :crybaby:

I have never broke so much stuff all at once in my life!! So now I get to order a cool new tool and a couple of replacement studs so I can get it fixed right again.

I want to see pics of the the broken studs... Also I retorqed the high steer arms EVERY trip... So I guess a average of every other day...

The crappy part about the steering arm studs was other than going on and off of the trailer to my driveway and back the one time I drove it I broke one. I need a stud installer to get em tight again as the nuts have been taking the studs out with them, so I should have known better, but they shouldn't have come loose that fast.

I've never seen the inner splines stripped like that. Good work man:lol:

Think that was due in part to how hard the detroit unlocks?

Joel,

I finally got the pictures off of my camera of the knuckle studs. I only got the two cause its not much to see, but here ya go. Im thinking I may just replace all 4 of them on that side to rid any distortion, but that damn 11 bux a piece adds up face.

Also you got the "Magnum Studs" from TG right? The stock cone washers and studs fit the same right? I know stock nut is 17mm and the ones on the truggy now are 19mm so thats why I ask. But just cause the outer diameter of the nut is larger does not mean the stud is.

Then I am also gonna order a knuckle rebuild kit, some new marlin seals, and Bobby's lifetime wiper seals when he ships my axle back to me. And then I should be good to go for round up. Need to try and get at least 1 mild trail ride in to ensure the stumble issue it had is gone tho. oh then fill all 4 propane tanks up again $$
