BMW seats + Torfab brackets install = Ahhhhhh...

If there is enough material left in the floor mount threads, chase it with a tap and reinstall OEM bolts. If not, I'd look into the bolt specs, grab the next size up from a hardware supplier (Fastenall or the like) that meets the specs, and tap out the mount hole to match. Will most likely need to ream out the seat base brackets for the larger bolts too.

I had issue with some of the seat bolts in my 86 FJ60....the bolts that run through the floor portion that hold the seat down. I bought some replacement bolts. As I recall I also had one or two of the threaded portion in the floor (weld on nuts or whatever they were) get screwed up too. Where the "nuts" were damaged I just took a drill bit and reamed the hole just a bit and used the next size standard grade eight bolt and some hardened washer and lock nuts to secure to the floor. There was no saving the "nut"... it seemed to me that the nut and apparently the bolts may be of a softer material that over time degrades, thats just my view, not sure how technically correct that view is.

Thanks for the info. I'll take a stab at cleaning up the threads but I may find myself in your shoes.
Seats look great and I'm really happy with the outcome, it's a much more comfortable truck

Ha, yeah, I dove right in the rabbit hole. Already took apart the rear heater to clean it, so might as well peek at the front heater system :). I only want to do this fiasco once so I am trying to do it right in one swoop. Plan is for Quiet$rap, autocarpet jute, then the carpet on top. I need to treat some surface rust first though. The gutters had been leaking water into the interior (another project on the horizon), so it caused a bit of a mess with the old jute and rug. I found this were it was directly leaking into the cab by the b-pillar.
Time for new seat belts:

I did enjoy the new seats for 5 min before I tore it all apart at least:

Red66Toy,
Do you have any more pics of your finished interior with these BMW seats installed? I have an 88 and am looking to go down the rabbit hoe myself. My front seats are shot and don't think the SOR foam and new covers is the way to go. Plus I love my BMW 3 series seats. Thanks, Jaime

I believe so, there are likely some in my “build” thread linked in my signature. I can take some more a little later today. I have been loving the seats, comfy and adjustable. Grey matches enough for me with the stock interior.

I just looked at your extensive thread. Great stuff! I wish I had the time to dive in like you have. Blue Guy looks great. Thanks again

Thank you. My project time is definitely not what it used to be. More strategic now with what I can tackle, especially now that it is serving DD duty.

Do you think I can fit these:
"2012 bmw 335i m sport edition" or must they be specifically manual?
BMW E90 91
e46
e30?

All seats here are 86 - 2012. Does anyone know if the TORFAB mounts will work?

Give them a call and see what they know will work. I know others have made the wiring work on the bmw electric seats. I will say if they have a high bolster on the side that side would look for a low bolster unless your truck is sagging suspension.

From the website:

Bolt in seat brackets for any 1994-2014 BMW 3 series seat. These brackets will work on any 04/86 and newer 60 and 62 series. This is a great way to upgrade your stock seats.

Non-sport and 4 door BMW 3 series work the best but all ’94-’14 3 series seats will fit with these brackets.

The only seats I would avoid would be any that might have airbags in them. I don't know if/when BMW did airbag seats but its one more thing to worry about with wiring...as in don't give the wrong wire 12 volts etc.

As far as wiring electric seats goes its usually pretty straight forward but some of the newer cars use seperate seat computers and more complex wiring. but most of the older stuff is just power and ground to a switch on the seat. Also maybe power and ground for a seat heater or cooling fans.

I have '08 3series seats, with airbags. As long as you get a wiring diagram for the seats, and tape off the airbag wiring, you will be fine. Look on BMW forums for wiring diagrams. There was a site that had BMW wiring diagrams by VIN, but BMW shut it down. I also went to my local BMW dealer service dept, told them what I was doing, and they let a mechanic pull up the wiring diagrams as well.

It is well worth the effort.

yes electric seats work, the mfg. notes which model of seats work. the brackets only support the physical mounting of the seat to the floorboard. Anything to make the electric seats work (if you use them) is on you (power seats, heated seats)...etc. I don't recall what BMW seats I bought, but they were on the specificed list of year & model seats that are known to work. If you go electric then I would advise you to get the wiring pigtail for each seat from the donor car if you have that option. My seats had air bags, I obvious don't have that connected to anything regarding power.

I think the best option are the manual versions of the seat. I own what I own and was just happy at the time to find two seats in great condition (matched pair), so thats what I bought....(where were powered) BMW has some funky wiring.... There are a few threads on the seat install, getting the power seats to work (drivers is a pain) and getting heated seats to work....etc.
