That looks like mine! Except I wasn't able to go anywhere. Every few feet there would be this big shudder and then the truck would shake violently and there would be this big thud. I scared the crap out of my wife real good that day!

The big question is, were you able to source everything you need to get it done? And are you going the route of an arb locker now?

I was. I'm starting off slow this morning, but I should be done today. I'm actually waiting on a buddy to help me get it lifted back into place. It's too heavy for my sissy-like arms and I couldn't get it balanced enough on a floor jack to do by myself. Then I'll hook up the compressor slowly over the next few days. I had to source a complete diff from Carl at JT's.

Christo was way booked at his shop and didn't have enough time to do a complete rebuild for me before the 100's event, so I was pretty limited on what to do. I decided to just order a complete unit from Just Differentials with a TJM locker. They were able to get it set up and shipped to me so it made it here yesterday. I could have had someone else do the R&R, but I probably saved myself $300-500. That, and doing the work myself gives me a chance to learn something new. I work slower than most because I'm not smart enough to just fly through jobs. This isn't really hard, there's just a lot of steps to get there. Toyota books it at 3-4 hours. It will probably take me double that.

I spoke with a few different people about the TJM vs ARB locker and decided on the TJM. I don't think I would have went wrong either way though.

You know what helps? Using a motorcycle jack. That's pretty much how I got mine into place. When you do things by yourself, you start to learn how to get creative and use combinations of tools to your advantage.

Keeping the stock gearing I suppose? Have you thought about plans to lock the rear?

If I remember right I screwed some blocks of wood to a scrap of OSB to make a cradle for the diff then strapped that to the floor jack. Might have been a different project but the method works for any odd shaped part you need to lift.

paflytyer, I know you are in a time crunch but for others installing just a front locker (or both), there might soon be another option for us.

Harrop/Eaton E-locker. Simple installation because it doesn't require an air compressor nor air lines that are often problematic. Anyway, supposedly Ironman4x4 will be the distributor for these lockers in the US.

I did some reading on those when I was researching options this weekend. All the Aussie stuff on the Eaton locker was very positive.

Is anyone else in the 100 forum running the TJM that we know of?

Rusty_tlc and 3D FJ have the right idea on lifting the diff into place. It's HEAVY, awkward and unbalanced. I built a little wood platform out of 2x4s and strapped that and the diff to my floor jack. A motorcycle jack crossed my mind and is a great idea. In the end, I couldn't get it in place like I wanted. Eventually, I just He-Man'd that thing into place and had a neighbor thread a few bolts while I held it with 2 hands and a thrusted hip. That part pretty much sucked.

Glad to see you're going TJM. I'm leaning that way too based upon JT's advice. I'm about a year out though.

You realize the hex you just dropped on yourself, right? I'd just delete that post and we'll pretend you never said that!

Ha! You're probably right! Just saving up to do front/rear/gears all at once.

Hey, you and I could be friends lol. I'm slow on stuff this major too but I give you props for doing it yourself. Hope you get it all done and buttoned up in time. Your humility is refreshing on this forum :)

Even if you don't get the compressor and lines to it, you will be good to go.

Yeah, I understand that, just something I'd like to have done before 100s. Everything is back together. Gotta put fluids back in tomorrow and see what happens. I'll take care of the compressor on Wednesday.

I taped a sheet of paper to my drivers window to write things on that I didn't want to forget before I jumped in and tried pulling out of the garage. "Fluids" is all that's left. That's a pretty important one.

I installed the Eaton E-lockers in my sons Jeep, IMHO they are absolutely the best option if you can get them for whatever truck you drive. They are one massive piece of steel.

Rolling again! Nothing fell off or leaked out for 10 miles. Much to my own surprise, I'm fixed. It's a good feeling.

Well done! See you in a couple days!
