Put me down for one... I already have the cut in my dash!

Looks Great!!!

Awesome work

these go into production is the custom face included? If not, as long as the tach gets opened up I can customize the face myself.

I only have a photocopy for a template right now, but here are some close, but not exact, dimentions. 4.75" width, 4.25" height, the hole for the gauge will need to be 3.5" in diameter. The gauge hole is centered vertically and offset about 1.25" horizontally. It was designed to mount on either side of the vehicle on either side of the cluster. I hope these help. Thanks

I am going to pick up the seals this afternoon. I should have some time in the next few days to get mine installed and get the pictures posted. At that point I will start taking orders with deposits. It will take a couple weeks to get them out as I will need to get the gauges ordered in. If people want to save a few bucks and source their own gauge and assemble them on their own I will sell a kit with out the gauge that will be available with no wait.

They are finally done!

Here is a picture of the back all buttoned up with the seal and dust cap installed. One of the front, completely finished, and one installed.

Sooooo sexy! When are they for sale? Stupid question but what's the process for installing the tach? Can't wait to get one.

Thanks

Installation isn't bad except for the small machine screws that go into the back of the bezel from behind. Not being able to see whats going on and cramped quarters make it a little tricky. One of my allen wrenches is still in there. The easiest way is to pull the Speedo Cluster. Cutting the big hole is a little unnerving but not difficult and worth it when you see it all mounted up. I just used a photocopy of the back for a template to drill the holes for the bolts and machine screws and a 3.25" holesaw for the big hole. Overall I will go 2 banannas as to not mislead someone. It's not swapping a transmission, but its not changing oil either. I just put mine in there to test fit and get a couple of pictures. I need to finish my metal dashpad replacement and hit the rest of the dash with some paint before my final install. I am hoping to have them over in the storefront early next week.

Very nice, I'm in for one of those! Hopefully I can get it to work with my 2UZ-FE. What sort of signal does the Autometer Gauge require?

That is the 4.7L V8 right? The tach runs off a signal from the coil, so as long as you have a coil in there, I dont see any reason why it wouldn't work.

Mopdog.

I was sketching out template and realized something is wrong with your statement that hole is offset 1.25" horizontally.

Is the hole 3.25" or 3.5"?

Either way the center would have to centered more than 1.25" from right edge. I'm not trying to bust your balls, just confused???

Sorry for the confusion, that wasn't the best way to describe that. If you measure 2 7/8" from the edge and find center from the top that will be the center of the big hole. The hole needs to be just under 3.5" I used a 3.25" hole saw because it is a fairly large toothed version and they tend to overcut a little. I have seen some hole saws with small teeth like a hacksaw that probably cut more acurately.

I have a 3B diesel engine in my troopy,
will your tach work on this engine.
Very nice work, looks original and like a must have :)[/QUOTE]

There are 2 ways to go with the diesels. There is a diesel 5k tach, that will fit, that pulls the signal from the alternator. I am having a face made for it. If you have a really stock cruiser and need the 4k version there is a contraption out there that converts a diesel signal to work with a gas tach. Here is a link to the converter http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=127/prd127.htm
