Trailer's done, let's get back to it. This thing is gonna be sweet!

Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay as always... Not too much has happened where I've cleaned out the pig and am getting ready to store it outside for a couple months this summer while I do a mini truck project most likely. The good news is I have the head and all the engine components back so I'll basically pull the engine before it goes out, clean and paint and assemble and have it fully put together shortly. Everything also turned out really slick on it and again I have all new gaskets from the best mail order Cummins dealer around which is Tennessee Diesel Conversions or Tennessee Diesel Conversions.

Now, most of your guys have seen the work I do with cut off wheels from this thread. In this case the metal pinched causing the cutoff wheel to explode. I suppose I use them so much I was a little sloppy and less thoughtful, the thing exploded and did this just a couple days ago:

WARNING, GOAR PICTURES, DO NOT CLICK IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE...
https://forum.ih8mud.com/chit-chat-...e-pics-had-accident-grinder-cutoff-wheel.html

Also I finished building that trailer as most people saw. Here is the link:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/trailer-tech/253008-m416-build-starting-scratch-recommendations.html This turned out awesome as well.

In general I think I bit off more than I could chew and have a few too many projects now. But I'm being smart about it and trimming down. I'm still very excited for the pig, sort of a bummer that its on the back burner but such is life. I've had a hell of a year so far (in good ways). Other than being laid off in Feb but I've been having a blast and am attempting to get a job now with a couple good leads in the next couple weeks.

And finally, once I sold the last piggie that was my last diesel for a little while. I've been brewing again and we have a sick new biodiesel processor at the biodiesel shop so I'm pretty psyched. Also about three weeks ago the State asked us to draft up a tentative plan on what our ideal biodiesel plant would look like. A local Economic development council called us out of the blue and offered us a 0% interest loan which is interesting, but we're sort of still up in the air. So this is also something I've been working on that has been going well.

And finally I've been active in some interesting interesting things sorta related to this truck and sort of the mentality and use of it, despite it costing so much and having newer components but it sort of all fits together... The first is a "dirtbag adventuring" forum I started called Hazard Assembly – The Ultimate Place for Dirtbag Adventuring
Also check out the free gear giveaway: Post Up for Free Gear Giveaway - Welcome to Hazard Assembly! - Hazard Assembly - The Ultimate Place for Dirtbag Adventuring

The site also documents some more of the crazy things (vans, etc) we have been using for misc desert adventures. I'm trying to get it all uploaded to that site as time allows and create a thriving sorta "dirtbag" community...

And finally I started a blog where I have a lot of sort of funky music I listen to online at Andre 2000 – Culture & Technology Blog.

Thanks guys!
Andre

The state came to you, asked what you would do for a bio processing plant, and then offered a 0% loan to build one? Why haven't you started building yet? That sounds like the job of a LIFETIME, designing, building and running a production scale bio processing facility.

What's the new processor you have at the bio shop like? Linkie or pics?

Here are some photos...

Check out this score from John Braiser at Proffitt's Cruisers.. ***pumped*** This will, uhh, involve lots of cut off wheel to install..

And here is the 6NT manifold I chopped and got ready for the 4BT install...

Also I forgot to mention www.4btswaps.com has been pretty heavily updated as well for anyone interested...

Well it's not so easy, they came to us but sort of in an informal way. The Utah business community is a little odd (and the state is fully plugged in or sectors of it lead the way, it's pretty neat actually) but there is this whole Utah "venture capital" and business and "entrepreneurship" community that is both cutting edge but extremely obtuse as well. You sorta have to walk the walk and talk the talk in a bizarre Utah manner (or be loaded from some other venture) and its really interesting who its winner and losers are. Basically I think they think we have potential but they want us to do all the work (which makes sense of course) including acquisition of funding. Our plan is two stage where we know what we're looking for but we need a whole-lot more data so part 1 is trying to developing the data to build the best, most efficient large scale biodiesel plant possible to reduce costs, and then part 2 is actually building it. We have a few tremendous hurdles in front of us but I'm going to keep working on it.

The processor is called a Biopro 380 which we got from Northern Tool. It's pretty neat as it's automated. We also now have 2000 gallons of clean, filtered, dewatered vegetable oil ready to go at any moment (which has also been just awesome). If anyone is local and needs some let me know as we sell it very reasonably. This has been the largest hurdle with brewing the manner we do: oil collection, and it's nice to finally see this fully dialed.

I'll post photos of it shortly, it's really impressive (and is fully automated). My only complaint is piss poor fluid transfer speeds... Other than that it's great...

Yeah that's John. Funny because he is like me who 90% of people would assume is "probably a pot smoker" but neither of us are. In that pic I was thinking he looks like he's got a s*** eating grin thinking how damn cool its going to be installing those doors :)

That is my sh#t eating gring saying "I can't believe I am letting these go to you, Dre because, of course you are going to have yours installed before I do.....For those of you wondering, Yes...I have another set of 55 barn doors in my posession.

I swear I can't take a decent picture to save my life! I looked stoned in every picture I am in.

Is that John that answers the phone?

Yeah....that's me........the secretary bitch.

Dre: Sorry to hear and more sorry to actually see your wound. That must have sucked. I had a grinding wheel explode on me about 6 months ago and hit me in the chest. That fawker hurt like hell and still cut me through 3 layers of clothes. I was lucky that I was wearing so many clothes because it was a cold one in the shop that day. I also had a pretty nasty bruise for about a week.

Be careful out there, everyone. We play with some pretty dangerous tools and it is easy to forget how dangerous they really are.

Never got to say a proper thanks for drivin my cruiser half way here and turning around. You guys are awesome!

Cool doors buddy.

I have been reinspired with a pig build and you have definitly been a good source for that.

My dad passed about 3 years ago and I lost the drive to do anything, but now I am back on my mountain bike and purchased a BJ60 for a engine swap into a pig.

Thanks

Rob
