Looking for approximately 2.5 inches of lift for mostly city driving with a couple trips a year down to Moab.

Originally planing on going for the Old Man Emu 2.5 inch kit but the further I dig in the more concern I have about the quality of the dampers. Not ragging on them by any means but if they're really made by Monroe it gives me a bit of pause vs. Bilsteins with a lifetime warranty.

I know a lot of the car guys have issues with Bilsteins being too stiff vs other options and it seems this may carry over into their 4x4 (5100's) as well. Does seem that the build quality should theoretically be higher with the bilsteins vs OME and the lifetime warranty certainly doesn't hurt.

Is this a reasonable line of thinking or would you guys with more experience encourage me to bite the bullet and go OME? Previously I've always focused on lowering my cars. First time lifting a truck.

Thanks much.

Keep in mind the gx is heavier than the fj so unless you get a shock for the v8 4r you will be under.

Looks great. Are you running the 5100's for the v8 runner?

Looks like you were in the same boat as I prior to going for the bilsteins. Guess I'll have to start shopping around for the best price on piecing everything together which is one disadvantage vs. the OME.

I got my front 5100's from jet.com- they have a promotion for first time buyers for 15%off. You can get the front pair (24-239370) delivered for under $155.

Actually NO. I found out about a month ago that what I have is made for RCD. It's a Tacoma Part by Bilstein. It's got 4 instead of three levels of adjustment. I have no idea how it's different besides that. I don't know if the Tacoma part has stiffer dampening (kinda think it might). In the end it works well. BUT Bilstein does not warranty them. Thats odd. I have heard horror stories about them warrantying anything anyway but that is disappointing. I had to go through Wheelers Off Road" to get the spare parts I wanted (the height adjustment c clip"). I would get them again from Wheelers Off Road. I don't know why they as a company choose the Tacoma ones.

If the lifetime warranty is a big part of your decision, Bilstein voids that warranty if you are ever off road. (If they can prive it etc) When I bought my fronts the shop made sure to get that across.

Thanks, that's a solid price. I'm having trouble finding a consistent part number for the rear 5100s do you happen to know what it is/did you also order them from jet?

That's comical.

Metal Tech is offering me a solid deal on the Iroman Foam Cell pro coilovers... Decisions, decisions.
