I had an ad saved a while back for a place in duncan doing steel sales. Can't find it now ( may have been Imperial Welding?)

but I see there's a place in Vic called Cutter Sales.

No idea what they're like. Probably just as bad as MS, the price is the price these days.

Although the last time I took a truck load of scrap to Schnitzels they just said " are you donating it?"

Hardly worth going in for the twoonie, but they aren't even pretending anymore.

There used to be a few places around these parts that would buy scrap steel and aluminum. Now I’m happy if I can dump it without having to pay. If you have a car to recycle you can get paid something… but no longer worth it for small amounts.
Restore used to have a bin but, they no longer have a public drop bin. They told me it’s because it’s no longer worth for them anymore.

At least at Heartland Rd dump all recycling is free. They’ll even take fridges, freezers, and air conditioners without a service charge. I’m sure our taxes are paying for the service though.

Ya, one nice thing in Sweden is that the whole dump is "free" (tax funded) ... Makes it easy to get rid of stuff and the theory is to help prevent dumping in fields /woods etc.

You have to sort though...

I was wondering why my order never arrived… :(

Partsouq has at least six different options for Parking brake shoes from oem and aftermarket suppliers, and they are all unavailable. So the hunt continues.

Anyone use Yoshi Parts?

other recommendations?

My point was that at least you know this right away with Partsouq; not days or weeks after ordering.

Try rock auto or one of the cruiser specialty places in the US.

Be really careful now coming out of the US. Cruiser Outfitters use USPS, pathetic and slow and sometimes unsuccessful. Love the
company, shipping is not worth the heartache any more. And I've spent thousands in the past. Only if I have literally months will
I use them any more.
Many US don't like to ship to Canada.
If you use Rock Auto ship directly to your house. Use Canadian dollars.

Cruiserworld.eu is really good. Maarten is on Whatsapp so he can and will text you, can send photos and verify.
Never delays. He is in Hungary now, but shipping from EU is still probably cheaper than across Canada.

Thank you, I appreciate these options. I would rather leave the ebrake shoes for another year than to buy from US suppliers at this point in time.

There are a few vendors that I’m almost willing to make an exception for… Matt, Roger, Mark… but so long as Elon is calling the shots… no. Plus shipping from the USA is usually not worth it,

Have you checked eBay?

I'm not sure on the numbers , so this may be the newer style.

It's that Aussie place. I've only had good luck with them.

Shipping is a pill, but what can you do.

It occurred to me this morning that I should fix my parking/E-brake. I replaced the shoes in ‘91… adjusted many times… but hasn’t worked well in 15-20 years. I thought before reinventing the brake, perhaps I should have a go at fixing it.
It doesn’t leak any gear lube… :D. I already have decent spare E-brake drum with a Speedi Sleeve already installed.

Which brings me to the shoes… given the adjustment is probably maxed out, and the brake doesn’t hold on level ground, I don’t see any point to opening it up without a new set on hand.

Any recommendations on where to find E-brake shoes? Part of me wants to leave the seal alone… but it’s 25 years old. So best to replace it.

Turns out, I have a new seal in the box of the last pair of shoes I bought. P/N 46550-60011 x2

I ended up there…

$45 CDN shipped for the pair, and their P/N matches the P/N on the box I have from ‘92 when I last replaced them.

From Australia seems like the best option. They are NLA from Toyota, and no one rebuilds brake shoes anymore. I considered ordering two sets… in case I need to replace them in the future. However, depending on how they work out, this could be the last time I rebuild the parking brake.

It hasn’t worked well in a long time… but I’ve put 100k+ miles on my 40 since I last did them. It could very well be 10-15 years before I would need to replace the parking brake shoes again.

By then I may sort out parking brake callipers that work on the rear discs. I’ve even considered splitting them into left and right rear so that they could be used to aid traction if a wheel ever comes off the ground.

Theres also a kit to mount a disk on the rear of the transfer case...

The kits I’ve seen are very expensive and most use a go cart brake calliper. So, at least the ones I’ve seen aren’t ideal.

It must be morning where you are… well it’s morning here by many standards, but 2:30 am morning. I should call it a night.

That online auto parts place is my go to now. Last couple tcase kits and , tre's etc came from them.

Shipping isn't much different than from Outfitters. Last time it was 60 usd from them or 80aud from aus. Easy decision these days.

We are officially not allowed to order anything from the states at work now.

Fine by me.

With the exception of medications we can’t get elsewhere, they are dead to me.

Oh and our trip to the World finals for First Robotics. Even that I’m not crazy about but can’t not go for many reasons.

Any recommendations on better shipping providers you are familiar with that offer service between the the US and Canada? I'd love to have our team look into it.

Fortunately USPS has been decent for most but just as you've found with US to Canada shipments, they can be painfully slow on domestic shipments too. For anyone in a rush, we recommend UPS which I believe we offer into Canada as well? Outright losses with USPS are well under 1%. If a package we sent you in the past never made it, let me know the invoice number as I'd love to look into it personally.
