Now I can get back to replacing the water pump and the front main oil seal.

Sometimes I hate old trucks... especially when they need to be repaired... and not a Landcruiser. Everything under the hood of an E350 with a 7.3 Diesel.

Used an old diff bearing races, the puller plate, and the balancer mounting bolt to press in the new front main seal.

Cut the sleeve off the harmonic balancer and pressed on a new one with a different bearing race.

New Gates water pump. Repainted the thermostat housing with white rust paint, cleaned up the brass bits, and installed a new thermostat.

One step closer to being finished.

Almost buttoned up. I’ve now installed the 50 bolts and all the parts they hold on (that weren’t already installed in the last pic). Now I’ve just got 15 more screws that hold in the grill, trim, and remaining front lights.

If it was a 40 series I’d have been done a week ago. I don’t think I took out as many bolts when I swapped in a new 40 series frame.

Do this is how it looks with it all back together. Doesn’t the new pump look great in there?

Any idea why I hate engine work on it?

I’d rather be working on a 40 series any day of the week.

This makes me think of a turtle stuck on its back.

Bought an expensive Cat tree.

It took him only a few minutes to find it.

I called the local truck shop to find out how much a receiver hitch would be for my “1999 Mitsubishi Montero”… $1000

I asked how much without installation… :(

That is before installation… Truly insane.

$1000 for a Curt hitch with a receiver tube and a 1/2” metal plate with 4 holes drilled into it. I’m all for supporting local… but I’ll be supporting a local welder before I pay $1000 for a 40 receiver hitch.

You might be back. Most welders that i work with don't get out of bed for $1000.!
I won’t. I’ll fabricate one myself before I pay $1000 for one.

I’ll be picking up a pintle hitch with a 2” ball tomorrow for $120. Problem solved.

Rotating lunette and pintle hook.

Small steps forward. Mounted lights with working LEDs inside.

I took some measurements and decided that a bolt on pintle hitch would be too high for the trailer. So I made a call.

$100 and a bit of elbow grease. 30 minutes labour for a savings of $900 + taxes.

Next to decide if I weld the short piece of receiver tube into the back of the trailer or just return it to Princess Auto.

Took it for a test drive. Even with the original springs it was a champ. 1350 lbs based on specifications online for the boxes of flooring. Still 2”+ till the bump stops.
