Drove my first prius today to Houston and back to Austin. Managed 42.7 mpg doing between 70mph and 80. Not bad at all. I still would rather get a vw with tdi though.

In tech related news, I love my cruiser.

I can't think of a vehicle more polar opposite to your 60.

I can't stand hybrids. I borrowed my old man's jetta diesel and kept track of the mileage over 8700km and averaged 51 US MPG.
If my 3b ever dies, I would be mighty tempted to throw in a tdi engine.

That's the irony of it, all my coworkers were laughing at me. I'm not a fan of hybrids, that was the first one I've ever driven. The batteries are horrible for the environment which negates most hippies' arguments. I'm a big diesel fan, drove them overseas all the time. I wish my motorcycle was a diesel too.

Got home a bit early to find a present from J.

Officially the most stickers I have on my rig are from trail tailor.

So not sure what happened between this morning when I was driving big red and this afternoon. I had near 0 vibration on my way to work, doing up to 70-75 mph. On the way back, it was the complete opposite, almost a violent vibration at times. It would mellow out between speeds but definitely could be felt. The weather was cooler so I'm thinking maybe the tires need more air and are acting like bias plies.

On another note, for you 4bt guys out there, how much is you crank case vent dripping on your driveway. Mine has noticeable spots and has coated the undercarriage of my rig.

The drip is normal. To avoid that, get a vent/catch can set up.
I know it's normal, just wondering how much is normal. Looking at the catch cans now, freaking expensive. I think I'm gonna use a shiner can.

Dave did you have a catch can on your 80?

Any thoughts on this one?

This one might work better.

i park on the same spot so it accumulates and it's hard to give an accurate amount. I can't park elsewhere, :princess: would kill me. I would say a few drips a day. It looks like the size of the palm of my hand. But I don't know if that's normal and the undercarriage has a film of oil.

EDIT: the dip stick still shows it's at the full.

I run a home made catch-can that I made from a Harbor Freight compressed air filter housing. Now I have one less drip.

Any chance you can post a picture or link me to that page? Thanks.

I don't think I ever did a write up on it. I'd have to get some pics first. Essentially it was the middle sized compressed air filter housing (1/2") from HF that I took the media out and replaced it with scouring pad material (for scrubbing dirty dishes). I connected the crank case breather to the housing inlet and connected a cheap valve cover filter to the housing outlet. The media traps the vapors and condense in the housing cup. The cup is see-through so I can see how much oil has accumulated and I put a drain bolt in the bottom of the cup or I can just remove the whole cup if I want to drain it that way.

This is the one I used. I cut out bigger window's in the metal cage that holds the cup in so I could see accumulation better.
