How violent of a start is it when popping the clutch.? Ive been meaning to try it just to see how it feels.
It was very smooth actually.

Either the starter is on its way out or you have a weak battery. If the starter is completely gone it wouldn't start during a push start.

I keep a spare stater in the truck. It is probably just as easy to get to as on the Toyota motor right?

It's easy to get to. I've been banging on it when i have issues. It eventually works. My batteries were recently tested they are both good.

Mike, did you install a dedicated starter circuit relay back when you were having problems starting?
No I haven't installed one. Not sure how to do it either. Been having a ton of electrical issues lately. Horn works sometimes, driver window gave up and now the starter.

That's not at all true. A push start means you get the truck rolling with the clutch pedal pushed down (transmission in first) so that the truck gets some momentum. The ignition needs to be at ON (not start). When you've got enough momentum, rapidly release the clutch pedal. You use the momentum of the truck to turn the motor in lieu of the starter, and then the truck starts.

The point of push starting is that you can start a manual transmission vehicle without use of the starter at all.

Ohhhh DUH! I shouldn't post without my morning coffee.

Not Toyota tech, but worth mentioning for those who kayak or paddle board.

If you have a kayak or paddle board with a hatch, make sure to unbolt the hatch and silicone it. This will limit the amount of water it takes in the hull. After a few hours on the lake yesterday I had to empty a few gallons out of my paddle board. Not enough to sink it, just enough to make it heavy to carry.

hauled to the lake by a toyota it falls well within Toyo tech!

Drill out the security pin and then cut a slot on the bolt head with a grinder for a flat blade screw driver. Maybe apply some penetrating oil and/or heat before you try again..

Turned it away from engine about two full rotations. Test drive time.

You should get a AFC spring. It will help a bunch. Cheapest mod you can do on the P pump.

Are you talking about the governor spring? I have a 4k spring in there.

So I messed with the plate some more and adjusted the star wheel some. EGTs won't go higher than 1100 no matter what I do. But I did lose some top end speed. Will keep playing around until I'm happy with it.
