Welcome back, Mike. We need to get lunch and check out the rig sometime next week.

No, wasn't me at the shop.

Definitely have to get together again. Next week might be tough. I'm scheduled for surgery, but we're not sure on the date yet. Waiting for the Dr and the insurance to agree. This sitting at home is weird and sucks.

On a different note, I think we should have a policy that you can only post 3 times before you have to attach a picture, even if it is an old one. Here's two I took at the shop when I went there to check on Big Red. One is the NV4500 and the other is the engine in the bay.

Here's the latest on this clutch fork dilemma. Talked to Edwin and we both agree our best/fastest/cheapest way to go from here is to use the solid steel Toyota clutch fork and weld some tabs on the inside to make it snug with the T/O bearing. Then have some holes drilled for the clips to fit. The yoda fork has the exact length we're looking for and sits dead center not to mention I prefer the Toyota fork to the stamped ones dodge uses just because it wont warp or fatigue. However, this is a bit risky because it has the possibility of jamming and leaving me stranded, but will work best with our current set up. It will allow us to use the stock Toyota clutch slave and master cylinders, cutting down on cost that way too. The other reason is we already cut the retainer bearing of the NV4500 by 3/8 in per the direction of AA to fit its bell housing. In the meanwhile I'll still be looking for that getrag clutch fork just in case this fails. Here's a pic I took of it today.

Below the AA bell housing is my new 12500 lbs winch that I ordered. I forgot to take a picture of it.

Ok some meaningful updates.
Got surgery, in pain, so this is a very welcomed distraction. Been having trouble finding a getrag clutch fork to fit the AA bellhousing so Edwin had to use the Toyota clutch fork. He welded some tabs to make it fit a little more snug. Here are a few pics.

Good idea on the bracket. I went over to Edwin's shop over lunch and saw your rig. Looking good, Mike.

Thanks Dave. I'm a bit ticked that it won't be ready for round up, but it's not like I'm able to drive right now anyway. Hopefully the wheeling trip after that both Big Red and I will be ready.

Are you laid up in bed? You can still come out and drive with us.

not laid up in bed, just on crutches. That's actually a great idea, I didn't think about it. We'll see how if I can juggle the midterm and find a ride out there for a day.

What exactly are you looking to do, mount AC?

The 6.7l bracket looks like the mid-ac mount with a high alternator. The Jonsey's one looks like a low alternator high AC setup and also looks to be a bit spendy. You'd have to piece together the kit if you bought the bracket alone.

I can't remember exactly where your motor sits in the frame, but if it's similar to mine, then you should have room for a regular 6BT ac / alternator / tensioner setup. I bought my setup with alternator, tensioner and AC compressor, along with bolts and thermostat, for $150. I love my setup because it allows me to use stock parts.

Here's a few pictures of what I got for $150:

Johnny,
Thanks for the pics. I will consider going your route, can't beat $150 for all that. The lower water-neck in my engine faces down, so I'm not sure if it will work with the jonesy bracket anyway. I'm just looking for ideas to get this done right the first time.
I'll be down there on monday to see the tranny get put in and I'll have a better idea then.

Yeah, Johnny's solution should work, Mike. I was over the shop yesterday and told Edwin about the Jonesy's setup, but didn't know about Johnny's.

Dave,
Thanks for the help and support you've been giving. I might see you this weekend at round up, thinking of taking my son just to watch other people's rigs and what they can do. He'll probably have as much fun as I will.

Johnny,
Thanks for all the great ideas, I'm definitely going to try your set up first.

No problem man! I'll see if I can find a setup for you.

Johnny,

Thanks for the link. Quick question, does your waterneck face the front and down like this one? I'm wondering if it will interfere with the bracket.

The bracket replaces that water neck and directs the water outlet towards the outside of the truck instead of towards the front. I had to make a pretty interesting lower radiator hose but I like the fact that the ac compressor is mounted down low. I can get you some more pics of it installed on my truck in about 20 min if you'd like.
