Well I’m glad I brought this up again. I’m thinking they have my money rn.
I really wish I would had seen this before I lost hours of my life going down the rabbit hole looking at mounts. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile and I did stumble on it and that is the route I ended up going and mounted it this weekend. I highly recommend!
Vent mounts are out of the question for me based on number of devices I use and as someone said earlier I'm not blocking the life support systems.
Not a fan of drilling into or using double sided tape on the dash or surrounding trim.
For 10 years on the Taco used the BirdDawg Industries Tech Deck Extreme console mount which is similar to the Expedition Essentials accessory mount.
And A pillar mod for the Garmin Alpha and external antenna in case one of the dogs took off chasing fur instead of birds
But the BirdDawg, what a great name when you're a bird hunter, mount being in the console left a few things to be desired in my case. The Gamiviti mount system addresses those weaknesses and is about perfect IMO. It is easy enough to roll back to factory for ~$60 if you want or sell the rig. That steel plate is stout, a lot heavier than I expected. And fully adjustable for mount locations. Only issue for some might be it does require using a 1/4 x 20 tap for the holes you want to use. But easy enough to do with a cheap Amazon tap and vice grips or even pliers if you have to. Wouldn't be the first time I've done that because couldn't find my T handle. Installation couldn't be much easier.
Decided not to go with the hardwired UltraGauge like I did in the Taco so using obdlink MX+ and cheap Motorola Black Friday phone as a tablet. Don't have cell phone reception most places I go so a Garmin isn't going anywhere. But use Google maps where I can
Still adjusting things and have a ton of RAM arms and balls already. Everything is just below the hoodline and my vision isn't blocked above or below the devices. And I don't have to take my eyes off the road. VERY pleased.
