$6... you got ripped off, I only paid $5 for mine! :grinpimp: ;p

When I drove my friend's 1998 Camry, the horn was a good, loud aggressive horn. I also heard an early Maxima horn, it was good too. In my last truck I had dual horns from (supposedly) a 1995 Hyundai Accent. Although a low end car, the horns sounded high end. When I was replacing the horns in my Cruiser, it was still winter, cold and snowy. The only car I could easily get to, with dual horns, was that 1999 Sonata. Just haven't got around to getting a different horn yet, but should be able to get a pair for $5 again. One local junkyard always has excellent prices on items you pull yourself.

I found that a standard 5"x7" speaker fits perfectly in the dash speaker location for those with a ham radio who want a remote speaker. It doesn't interfere with anything up there either.

I agree. Get the tranny cooler. B & M is the best. Don't just get any tranny cooler. Get one that makes the maximum use of cooling surface. That is B & M, or Extreme out of Australia. The kind that has a tube running like a snake through the grid is NOT the kind.
When you get the right design, like mentioned above, make sure the fluid input is at the bottom of the cooler so the fluid is pumped to the top of the grid and then exits cooler and is cycled back into the system fluid system, tranny etc. Do it, you will have peace of mind.

For me, best upgrade for <$50 was a scion radio upgrade. Did mine for $30. So nice not to have to screw with tapes and can fit 4 hrs of mp3s on a CD. Looks good too.

My best mod was free...helped some people I know strip down a 60 cuz they were parting it out for a customer in the states, in return they gave me the Safari Snorkel of the truck, the customer had no interest in it....his loss, works great on my diesel. I guess the only cost was the $10 hole saw bit I had to get for drilling the hole in my fender.

I don't think this was mentioned but the PO of my cruiser but vinyl patches on the seats where the belts wear through thus saving the upholstery. Cost? Pretty much the cost of adhesive that you probably already have.

Inside/outside Thermometer & Clock

Here is one that we got from J.C. Whitney for $15. Mounted in the space in the dash where the little cigarette pack pocket was. I got some 1/8 inch black plastic from a local sign shop. The plastic is stuck on there with some doublesided 3M adhesive call DHB. I hope it holds up in the summer when the dash gets hot.

That's awesome Heartworm. I have been looking for something similar. I am totally going to steal that idea!

Now I need to figure out a way to make it run off the car battery rather than the AAA.

My Faves...

My fave under $50 for my FJ62 has been the Scion radio. Relatively easy, cheap, sounds really good for the money. Can you tell what my absolute fave is, not under $50, in the first picture?

I bet it has something to do with that funny looking shift knob . . .

Someday, I hope that will be one of my favorite not under $50 mods.

swaping the center dash vents for the outer kind that close.........free mod(cause I had spares)

hey how the hell do you get them out? i have spun them on there side and bulld till i heard cracking and they still didn't give? like do i need to bust out the chain saw and pull the old Red Meck "gettn er done"??:hillbilly:

If it's COLD weather it'll be harder (get them warm with the heater or a blow dryer otherwise) I have turned them so I could get a finger under the wide "side" part and then pull. Sometimes a little leverage is in order, a long screwdriver will help (padded to protect the vent and the dash)

the large size rubber vacuum line plugs from the 'Help!' rack slip over your existing worn out hood bumpers, making an excellent replacement for a couple bucks.

Also, brass marine battery terminal ends from the boat aisle are mucho better than the lead kind and corrode a lot less.

If your driver seat is worn, take a look at
your passenger seat and swap'em(If it's good). Just remove the brackets, switch to opposite side, and remove the cupholder.

Best part for this mod....................FREE!!!

So I just did this. It took maybe like ten minutes and it made a huge difference. My pass side was like a brand new seat so it is so much more comfortable and I sit up higher now also which is always a good thing!!

I would so recommend this to any one that has a worn drivers seat.
