I’m looking for suggestions for a basic roof rack for my fj60. Looking for something simple that doesn’t look modern, just two bars that fit into the channels, to carry a longboard. Something like what’s in the attached photo.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thx guys 🤙🏼

Those look like the tall Yakima 1A towers and crossbars. Those are what I run on my 60 series. Just need to get the right width crossbar. I picked my set up locally used for under $100.

As stated above Yakima 1A towers and crossbar. You can find used setups or go new. The bars in the first picture look like wide ones that can handle a pair of canoes, if all you want to carry is one board use a set bars that are more narrow.

For another option, I have a set of the Rhino Rack bars that I use for a ton of different things. Happy with them and they are nice and quiet when I don’t have anything on the roof.

Mine has a Yakima rack and bars. Not sure the model is was on it when I bought it. I will say it’s as simple as it gets. It makes no wind noise at 65+ mph on the highway. My problem is I don’t have a key to unlock them to remove. I’m going to get s lock smith to pull a cylinder so I can order a key.

Did you get the cross bars from Gamaviti as well or just the towers?

I use Sea Sucker Ridge Ready Monkey bars. They are suctioned cupped attached. Easy to mount easy to remove. Holds many surfboards. If you don’t want a rack on your truck all the time they are the way to go.

I have the canoe posts, but found hard to keep them shifting on the plastic but prairie crosswinds are brutal. I haven't
used them in years now. Make them tight!
