It's mine! Just got it home tonight. What a day! Got there and NO KEYS!
Can't turn the wheel without a key! Locksmith came to the rescue.
Anyway got it back to town and took it to the carwash with it still on the trailer.
Engine degreaser for the engine bay and undercarriage. Pictures to follow!

That is an absolute unicorn! Man this is awesome bud, there is nothing cooler then this right here. :). Congratulations! Preserve it bud, not alot of these finds left. I bet she fires right up with a little tune up!

That thing is a time machine! If you do anything to the look of it aside from removing the grampa campa and storing it for later (A) You’re crazy, and (B) A large cadre of ‘Mudders is going to converge on Seattle and beat you senseless!

I guess you will probably need to replace the tires as being 29 years old at a minimum, they aren’t exactly road safe. May I suggest Firestone Destination MTs to keep the vintage look alive?

Congrats though! That is a hell of a find!

My first vehicle I ever bought at age 17 was a 1981 version of what you have there, in the same color minus the stripes. It even had the same size MTs on the same wheels! My KC lights were the round Daylighters though, that I ordered from Desert Rat.

I'm going to let you in on a little not-so-secret, secret. On the passenger side door lock cylinder is a code. That is the key code that you can take to the dealer and get keys cut. Assuming your dealer has two brain cells to pinch together. Sometime the newbies look at you stupid because they want the VIN and such, but the old timers will know. The VIN is worthless on these old trucks for getting keys made. But that cylinder is golden. The key code is usually a letter, followed by four numbers. Just be aware that there are some little plastic clips that need to be undone to get the cylinder out. You will break them. So plan on getting them ordered too while at the dealer getting the keys made.

You're welcome.

Also, I spy some old-school Downey on that truck.

Dual shocks on each side is pretty cool. Congrats on the find, this truck looks really nice!

Wasn't aware that's what was meant.
Any idea if that was that a dealer installed option or did it come from the factory that way?

Wow!!! That thing is absolutely gorgeous congratulations on the find! It really is a true time capsule.

I’m agreeing with Josey do not do anything to the exterior of the interior of that thing. You will have a very upset mud community. Get it going and drive it as is and enjoy!!

Downey was a rather well known Toyota off-road, aftermarket provider back in the day. They did a lot of mini-truck and Land Cruiser stuff. They were almost the only game in town if you had a mini-truck. Of course, times have changed. They are no longer in business.

Some more historic eye-candy from way back in the day. Wish I had kept my older catalogs from the 80's.
