Can someone advise what was the genuine stock paint of the spare wheel carrier hook and holder?
Was the hook usually painted body color and the holder in black? Or was it the grayish silver color, that of the bumperettes?

Australian roadworthy compliance plate, model plate and the first decal (oil filter) are in place.
I see many guys only masking these plates.. the correct job is to get it off and paint the tub evenly. Affixing them with 1/8" x1/8" waterproof blind rivets.
Look stock, as if never removed.
@Racer65 repro 56211-90801 oem shape windshield spacer w/seal fits like a glove.

Thanks, I have sprayed mine black too.

I recall a thread on this. The first years of the tube carrier had body colored receiver but later years were black. The hook was always body color. This is from memory so take it with a grain of salt.

Few more photos after all the body mounts are in place (new urethane mounts) and new oem bolts.. pedals bracket and original dash are back in place. The dash pad was in pretty good nick, so I gave a thorough clean and after adjusting the clips and new machine screws (M5) it is back in business.

yes it was a worthy truck to start with.. it was unmolested, relatively low mileage and most importantly panels were rust free. The only panel I had to change is the windshield, and even that was repairable I just wanted a non repaired panel installed.
Being an SES (State Emergency Services) vehicle it has however seen quite an abusive life and horror.. so it was over painted and many additional equipment added that left unwanted marks. Mechanically it was ok, but putting all these clues in the equation it was an ideal candidate for restoration. And it was almost free($3k) compared to the cost of the whole restoration. It could've end up in Indonesia or scrapped by the heartless or just simply rundown chasing bulls up north cattle stations till total demise.. So, it was a rare opportunity crying for someone to "restore me please" .. and.. Lucky me.. just see these 25pages and more to come, and thanks to the MUD so I can share this happiness with other cruiser enthusiasts to enjoy the rebirth of this truly amazing piece of Troopy.
