Looks like you're living the dream! Congrats on the new kid! Oh, and the new shop!
Thanks! I'm beyond lucky to have an awesome wife who tolerates this cruiser sickness I have

Got a little fathers day action in on the 45, nothing major but it was good to be out working on the 45 with my son.

First order of business was dragging the 45 from my parents house, where it has been stored, to my rental house. The rental house doesn't have a garage or shop but I am hoping having the 45 on site will allow me to spend more time working on it and get her back on the road sooner.

Got to put the 40 to good use and drag the 45 up the drive way.

Got busy with some CLR, warm water, and green scotch brite pads. It does an amazing job or removing rust stains from the paint.

You can see here the left side which I treated vs the right

This better illustrates the awesomeness of CLR

Got the 45 topless, def. the first time this roof had ever been removed.

Spent some time trying to clean up the cab and floors of the 45 but it seems even CLR has its limits

And check out these runs in the factory paint!! I've noticed quite a few on this 45 and my 40. Very surprised at the quality control standards of Toyota back then. Anyone else ever notice runs in their factory paint?

That is it for now

Got the seats recovered and buttoned the engine bay up...... starting to come together. Big items left to do are rebuild the carb. and t-case then I can fire this old girl up for the first time in 15 years :D

Bear I used CLR and green Scotch Brite pads, if you use the Scotch Brite pads be careful because if you get over zealous with your "scrubbing" you can eat through the paint. After CLR I follow up with a polishing compound to bring the shine back then top coat that with regular car wax. Hope that helps.

Really enjoying this as I start out on my 69 rebuild. Just wondered where you got your rubber brake lines? Are they the original 9mm fittings?

Al

Installed all new brake cylinders front and rear, new TREs, new OEM shocks, new rubber brake lines, rebuilt the drag link, and put on proper rims and original hubcaps :D

Tell me about that starter paint please. Is that cleaned up original paint, or did you spray it? If you sprayed it, what color/brand did you use?

Another stellar find of a vehicle, by the way. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Red,
Sorry for the delayed response, haven't been on mud much lately. To answer your question, I did spray it with a generic green rattle can from the autoparts store the crudely matched the original. On my LV restoration we did take the original starter to the local paint supply store and had them match it, unfortunately I don't have the paint code for that anymore.

Hey snowbound..... sorry for the delayed response but I sourced my 9mm rubber lines from Spector Offroad. Hope that helps!

Time for a general update on this thread, I broke ground this week on my new home which I am taking 4 months off work to build myself. So sadly progress on the barn find 45 is going to be non existent until likely next year. Though it will be totally worth it as I will have my new shop and home finished and can put all my spare time back into my cruisers.

Thanks for that. I will contact them.

Sorry we shan't see more cruiser activity for a while but sounds like you have another exciting project on your hands.

dam 4 months thats ambitious!!! Hope it all goes smoothly! Looking forward to the continued build

It's very ambitious no doubt but it is a small 1700sqft slab on grade home so I have my fingers crossed I can get it done.

Congrats on breaking ground.... Is the pond stocked? ;)

Not a cruiser update but I thought I'd share the progress on my house. Two months in and hopefully I should be dried in next week. It's been a ton of work doing it solo but I've been loving every moment of it. Still hoping to be done sometime in January fingers crossed.

Few pictures....
