I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I hope things get better for you. We are always hear on MUD for you. It's not as exciting as wrenching and wheeling but it does help kill the pain.

Mini, talked to some ppl. here that work with the VA and they tell me that the VA would probably cover a video monitor so you can do some things in the garage........would probably need to word it so it would fall under "Rehabilitation activities" will send you a PM with contact info; keep low to the ground;)

I feel for you. I had a similar thing last year waiting for heart surgery and then recovery. I was not permitted to lift more than 10lbs (that's a little more than a gallon of milk) before surgery and then I was not allowed to do much of anything for the three months after surgery either.

You have our prayers for recovery.

Time has a way of dragging when you are not busy. Find out what you can do and do that. Maybe a little wrenching for 15 to 30 minute intervals. Nothing dangerous. H*ll, maybe teach your wife.

Spend some time on mud helping us less mechanically gifted out with your experience.

There has got to be some available passenger seats for wheeling trips. Could you ride as long as there is someone there to keep an eye out for you?

It's a good time to scan in all those old photos so you can share with us. I've got some photos from when I first started wheeling and never seem to have the time to scan them in to my pc. Almost all my photos now are digital but would still like to get them better organized.

Hang in there, you'll be wheeling your pig again.

Hang in there....I would be back in wyoming in an instant if I could. Remember all the things that you have to be thankful for - especially your family.

When I was going to the University of Wyoming, I met a girl and started dating her. A few months in, she left Wyoming to go home to attend to her family. In two months, she lost her grandma, her dog, and both of her parents were almost killed in a carbon monoxide poisoning in there house. She returned back to college after that christmas of '96. Flash forward to today....we're still together married for 7 years.

The main point of the story is her mom...she went into a coma after the carbon monoxide poisoning and came out with a few problems, but not too bad and just started having seizures two years ago. The doctors still didn't know what is going on. Every so often, she has a "break through" seizure, but they have changed the medicine and the dosage and seem to be on the right track. It takes a little while for them to figure out what medicine works out the best. Some will make you feel like a lump on a log, some will work.

Hang in there - it will work out...I could use a supervisor to put that 4bt into a 55...or the 4.3l vortec into the hilux, or...well, you get the idea...

I was thinking about this last night while my "baby daddy" was harping on me not to lift things and to be careful with that seat I was moving around and all that stuff. While my health issues can not compare to what you are going through, I do have this to offer because I too have been limited as to what I can do.

Don't stop doing what you love. And don't give up. Just modify your life as you need to. Get your sleep, monitor your seizures, do all that the docs say...and try to live your life. Having something to do has been proven to improve quality of life for people.

I may not be able to hoist my leafsprings up to get them into place, but I sure can turn a wrench. Just need a little help from friends. Wish I was closer to offer up help turning wrenches, but instead I'll just say that you have my respect for working through everything and I KNOW it will all turn out fine in the end. Pig lovers don't quit...it's not in the genes.

thanks again everyone.... well i am on yet another med... this one is actually being much kinder to my body and mindset..... i havent thrown up in a couple of days and i can actually walk without help, and I dont feel like my intestine are being pulled out and wrenched upon [as much]. i can breath too.... if anyone has ever seen that movie Stigmata there is a seen where she is drawing on the walls... the priest is trying to take photo's and she turns and stares at him a couple time... then she starts to slowly walk across the room... thats how i feel every hour of the day... except not nearly as bad with this new drug.
