Hi All -

Here is the last of my electrical questions (I hope). I changed my '70 FJ40 from the 3 speed on the column/tree to floor mounting. My question is on the back up light connection. I thought that I had read that there were built-in connectors in the original wiring harness to allow for the back up light connection on the floor (as floor mounting was an add on option in 1970). Is that true (I cannot seem to find the connectors) or do I need to run lines from my old connectors in the engine compartment to the back up switch?

As always, thanks!

I just ran 2 lines from the floorshift to the firewall connections where the column shift switch was located.

it's been awhile since I did that, but I think I cut the bullet connectors off 1 end and attached them to the connector wires to attach to the new switch, that way the switch was still plug and play.

Toyota was not that forward thinking when it came to wiring, so no, you will not find an extra set of bullet connectors for the floor mount tranny reverse switch.

When I build early rear harnesses, I always install the tranny mount switch wires so that whomever is buying the rear harness can have column or floor shift just by moving a jumper wire. That mat be where you heard of the extra connectors?
