Leon, look close at where the fog/ driving light and blinker in the ARB are mounted. That's a plastic panel, bust a snow drift or catch a good enough branch and that would be gone. Bet ARB wants a premium for replacement too.

That's odd. I just went and checked and mine is all metal, used a magnet as well.

Did a bit more homework on front bumpers for the 100. Apparently, the first run of ARB bumpers (98-2002) have some issues and they redesigned them for 2003+. Since I have an '02, will probably steer clear of the ARB.

I like the TJM T3, but it's "wings" are apparently for looks only (very thin gauge with little support). ARB's similar Sahara is a bit to "clunky" looking for me.

Slee's bumper is nice and tucked up nice and snug to the front of the truck, but not sure I love it... especially with it's price tag (costs more than my first truck!).

That leaves the TJM T13 and the BIOR bumper. Brian, thanks for mentioning that he's here in CO, for some reason I thought he was in the southeast. ??? Both of these bumpers are BIG and I'm not sure I want to go that big on the 100. ???

I'm thinking I might try to convince some of the guys in the 100 forum to go to the Rising Sun Rally this year so I can see some of these bumpers in person. ???

Thanks again fellas for your analysis.

Oh.. and Bret, while I like the idea of building my own stuff, I'm saving that kind of effort for my 55. The 100 is a bit too curvacious for my angular tendencies. :D

Sounds like you are you buying for looks over function?

I'd be lying if I said that aesthetics we're part of the decision. I think we all like the idea of our rigs looking a certain way, no?

In actuality, I'm looking for the best of both worlds. I really want something just big enough to house a winch and add a bit of protection. Not sure I want/need a full bull bar on the 100 (love the look on an 80, still not sure on a 100....yes, I'm talking looks again ;)).

I really like the TJM T3 (below) but as I mentioned, the wings can easily bend when they come head to head with a rock and cause damage (here, choosing function over appearance). But, I've done more extreme stuff than I ever thought I would with the 100 and the current plastic bumper has only received some scraps and bruises. So, maybe the T3 would be fine?

??? So, I'll continue to mull it over.

That one looks pretty sweet. You should talk to addicted offroad and see if they have anything. They just started making a pretty sweet one for the fj that may be one of the top 3 nicest bumpers I have seen. I would think the idea is to make the truck look as sweet as possible without sacraficing toughness. I would want more protection for the radiator from deer and elk if it was me.

Hey Matt, thanks for the Addicted Offroad tip. They don't have anything for the 100 on their site, but I liked what I saw and sent them an email.

FYI: I forgot to mention earlier that now that we're for sure Coloradans, I'm hoping to re-energize myself on the 55 build. Was in limbo for quite a while about what we were going to do. So, with the 55 back in the picture, I'd like to keep the 100 for it's original purpose (camping trips, ski trips, out of state light expo, Christmas tree runs, etc.) and have the 55 be my "wheelin'" rig.

This is why I'm a bit hesitant to go full bull bar, full roof rack, rear tire carrier, etc. on the 100.

blah,blah,blah...... I'm hoping to re-energize myself on the 55 build. blah,blah,blah...and have the 55 be my "wheelin'" rig...blah,blah,blah.

...or forget all that 55 nonsense, sell it all off and just go out and buy a built mini-truck someones tired of. :grinpimp:

Not sure if I should consider it a "short and to the point" email or a "Dude, quit wasting my time" email. :D

That guy had a lot of fun on Wheeler in his stock, cut up mini truck lol

Yeah, love those mini-trucks. :steer:

That sounds like Scotty. He posted some stuff for sale to clear out the shop on the CoTTORA site a while back. His responses are very short and to the point. lol He does do some amazing work though.

Yes I got them. They turned out except for two wouldn't work. I sent you an email. I will get them up next week. I think jaws 2.5 looked the worst. Nice job on getting through those.

Hey, where did that post with someone ranting about Jeep go? ;)

Lol. It made me sound like a complainer, and it was a little bit like a "fishing" post, and I'm neither of those things. :) just got caught up in a moment. I'm ok now. And while the Jeep founders are rolling in their graves, and I'd still like to drive to their headquarters and backhand someone.... I have no doubt there will be a solid axle swap aftermarket. I've eaten crow on a lot of things, but IFS/IRS are over rated, and outclassed offroad, and they always will be :( They're just doing this to save money, and speed assembly lines... No concern for customers, or heritage.

I have been hunting down noises on the cruiser and found a few things and noticed my coil overs bottom mount is touching metal on the cradle area. I sent it in to toy tech and they sent it to ICON and they said it normal and will also rub the paint of the lower part of the shock. I would say it is a design flaw if you have metal parts coming in contact with each other. Go figure. Here is a pic but not a very good one

Going on a round Robin the weekend, heading from Creede to Silverton via Stony, swing north towards Animas, take the North Fork cutoff towards Ouray, then spend the night in Silverton, do Black Bear to Telluride then come back across on Engineer to Lake city then 149 back.

Anyone want to go or have any input on the plan?
