You dont have access to ARB? Surely they can sell you a tank?

ARB Frontier Long Range Fuel Tank - ARB 4x4 Accessories
Brown Davis- Auxiliary and Replacement Long Range Fuel Tanks – Brown Davis- Long Range Fuel Tanks, Underbody Protection, Roll Cages and Motorsport
Ironman
TJM
The Long Ranger
Strongarm Fuel tanks

We see a lot of steel ones cracking, especially in remote areas. I had a LRA in my 100 series that cracked (different places each time) but it was 10yrs old. It had the strong base as well. We do have some pretty rough country though and endless corrugations.

That’s a nice list, but only for you in Oz.
Perhaps you are not aware of how much more difficult things are for modification of Cruisers in the US.

As far as I know...
-NONE of the other major brand tanks are offered here for US spec 200s—and simply paying to ship them here does not work. Very different requirements to fit under our 5.7s. LRA is the first major offering and that took tons of work by Ward Harris and his business partner Georg at Valley Hybrids in California.

With left side drive...no diesels... 5.7 spec ONLY, it’s a whole different game for US blokes.

We are extremely envious of the massive selection you have in Australia.

We do have the petrols as well and ARB do offer the poly for them. The Lexus KX570 is here too and im pretty sure ive seen a poly on one. Ill ask ARB next time im there. I cant see where the difficulty will be, hoses in and out, same factory sender unit is fitted. If you can get some pic's of the top of the tank ill compare to here. This is the 180L Long ranger.

The cold part has me spooked. The only reason I want this upgrade is so I don't need to stop for gas so often but if its even slightly more painful its not for me. Although everytime I pump gas I wish I had one of these without cold issue. I like the idea of driving 900 miles between fillups.

Like @Markuson said it's not a big deal after you finally get it figured out. My situation was kinda uncomfortable.....January in the Yukon. :)

LRA removed and Poly refitted

Please dont mis read me, LRA are a very well known and respected aussie company and make an awesome product. im in no way saying anything disrespectful about their products and have used them in my own personal cars. View attachment 1879741

As others said, we have additional emissions accessories. See photo below from Crusier Brothers. You’ll see the top of the tank looks very different from yours in order to accommodate the charcoal canister.

So with an auxiliary tank, are my days of using the automatic fill feature at the pump over?

What’s funny is that not having the sub tank means you have to stand in the cold twice as often. :) So I don’t get the argument about longer fill times. Over all, it’s a win. Beyond that...I think an extra minute or two waiting for tank to fill is perhaps the best example of a first world problem I’ve heard in a loooiong time! Lol

Exactly.
So...those Aussie tanks literally do not fit.
We can’t just call up ARB, etc. and have them ship what we need. It will no worky...

In my experience it depends on the specific pump at the specific gas station. I just filled both tanks this morning and all I had to do was move the pump from front to back. I had similar issues with just a single tank in the past as well. Who knows.

Heck there are some gas stations I can't even use the auto-fill for my main tank, it will click off if more than 3/4 pressed. It's not all places, but it's becoming more common. I'm assuming this is an issue w/ something and not just pumps putting out higher volumes of gas?

Yep.
And as Cole says... Bad/picky pumps exist.
But I honestly cannot remember the last time I had difficulty filling both tanks. Early on, yes. Now? I don’t spend any brain cells on it (only only have 3 brain cells ;)

This whole “problem” reminds me of stop-light psychology studies. If people are habitually late or in a hurry...they report much longer stop-light-wait-time complaints than those who don’t tend to be habitually on time. :)

Basically the only additional care needed is simply because the interior fill holes under the gas cap are offset—leftward and rightward—rather than a dead-center single fill hole. So...ya, you have to take this into consideration to get a good seal when using fume-recovery pumps like CA. But once you recognize this little tweak...it’s super easy.

Most gas stations work just fine. I did have mine pop out and give me a 87 octane bath.
I keep a hand resting on the nozzle while filling. I don’t want another bath.

Hope you were’t Smoking...! :eek::smokin::confused:

OK, so ive done some checking and i was wrong about ARB tanks completely, They are ONLY for diesel and do not work with petrol at all. Poly tanks melt if filled with petrol...

Apologies guys. I stuffed up that one.

Thanks for clarifying.

Always appreciated.

Can anyone describe a bit more how the transfer switch operates? The instructions [https://www.cruiserbrothers.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/LRA-TLC200RAUS24G-FS-7-X-18.pdf] state that the pump will run until the aux indicator shows RED + 2 min.

To me, that reads that one must either 1) have available capacity in the main to transfer the entire contents of the aux tank, or 2) manually shut off the transfer pump when the main gauge reads full(ish) lest the fuel overage continually drain from the main back to aux, continually running the pump. Am I missing something here?
