I’ve had the tank installed for quite some time now. My LC squeaks loudly every time I hit a dip or bump at lower speeds, even ones as slight as a driveway. I suspect it squeaks at higher speeds, but road noise masks most of it. Never thought it might be coming from the aux tank, but makes sense considering it started after the install of the aux tank. 🤦‍♂️

Does anybody else have this issue?

I had the same issue. Did you install yourself? I didn’t cut off those two little tabs as it wasn’t in the instructions when I installed. When I had the tank dropped to upgrade tubing, pump, and wiring those were cut off and it solved my problem.

The tank was installed at Valley Hybrid. Love the tank, but the squeak is annoying. I’ll probably live with it considering the expense it would cost to redo it all over again.

Thanks for the confirmation guys! Easier to bear knowing where the noise is coming from.

I can report my aux tank setup is silent. No noises to speak of.

Credit goes to @indycole who clued me into checking clearances when I installed. It wasn't without its battles as I probably spend 2x the install time to resolve these issues including missing removal of brackets in manual, and insufficient clearance for charcoal canister (documented here) Both issues I believe resolved in currently delivered tanks.

These are the sounds I'm hearing. Low speeds, when braking I hear squeaking/groaning.

Are we thinking these tabs are rubbing while the body flexes around?

If so, I imagine the Tank paint is worn down in those spots by now. Should make it easy to verify once the tank is dropped.

Yeah, they installed mine as well. The shop is definitely one of the best and they know what they're doing for sure, but it's hard to get around the nuances of clearance from one vehicle to the next.

Personally, I think it's worth the time, effort, and dollars to drop the tank to verify. It's actually not *that* hard of a job. The place a the bolt was rubbing on my experimental tank would have definitely eventually worn through the metal causing at best a fuel leak but at worst a place for vapor to escape and ignite.

Thanks for the feedback. Seeing as how I’m using your old tank, it’s probably worth the effort and money to do it over again! I’ll have to find some time in the next few months to drive up to No Cal.

Really? That's awesome :) Glad to hear it found a good home. Yeah, it's probably not an urgent matter and I'm sure they'll figure out a way to address it if that is indeed the underlying issue.

I feel like I must make a bad confession .....about my extra Aux tank .
I have a hzj 78 , made and set for desert trips , with a long range , 400 L or 88 gal of diesel fuel, that gives me aprox 3000 km .
all under the car in 3 tanks , low center of gravity , no mess-up with dirty diesel carry cans , can select from the cabin on the run which tank to use .
very happy of them , I am free to fill them or just use half of them .

How’s everyone’s transfer rate? I’ve been feeling like mine is incredibly slow, so I measured. It took +30 minutes to do just under half a tank. Does that seem right? FieT pic is 11:20 and second is 11:51

^Yes. that's about right. I usually transfer from the aux when my primary is about 1/2 tank. The full 12.5 in my setup takes about 25 minutes so yes, you're in the right ballpark. I personally have no need for more transfer speed.

I used mine for the first time over the last two weekends, filling the main from the LRA. To me this was game changing. Had a drive that was just over a tank full, and to be able to extend range really made a difference. I have the heavy Ironman springs and really don't notice the weight at all when full (24 gal), and wheeled Windrock with it full and no issues at all. I have noticed the main tank fill process does require a bit of finesse as mentioned above, but if that's the worst of it, I can deal with that.

If I rated all my mods given my build, I'd put gears at the top, and the LRA right below that. So nice! And in a nice twist of fate, I got two hats :)
How much was the gear redux? Where did u get it done (i'm in Atlanta)?

Hi, I went to ACC. Only place in Atlanta I'd go. Can't remember the full cost for just the gears. I put in lockers at the same time. It's not a cheap mod, but well worth it. They've done a ton so just give them a call and they can give you a quick quote.

What size tires are you running with the 4.88's

Thanks . I'm debating on gears with 33's. How are your RPMs at highway speeds? 75-80
We are kind of in the wrong thread to talk gears, but they run just slightly above stock. Definitely no issue at all. I run 80-90 on the highway and have no problems with the RPMs. With 33's, I think I'd still get them and I did run them with 33's for a while and still thought it was the best mod. Now, if you have a stock truck, no added weight and aren't towing, it may not be worth the money.

Does anyone have any images of a 40gal tank under their truck?
Specifically looking for how far down it hangs in relation to frame rails/ factory exhaust resonator.
Thanks in advance!

I timed a few transfers from aux -> main (E to 1/2 took ~30 mins), and now my cruising range is stuck at 0. Gas gauze, speedo, etc all working properly. I also tried resetting the trip and avg mpg, but it's been at 0 for several startups and the main gas tank is at 1/2. Any suggestions?
