ARB 4" Bumper Fog Light LED Upgrade (3 Viewers)

I am running the ARB LED fogs and to be honest they are at best underwhelming. For better light output, look into either retrofitting actual projectors with HID bulbs or at the very minimum putting in LED bulb that are designed to provide the stock cut off (so as not to blind the oncoming traffic).

I am running Lasfit brand LED bulbs and find them to provide good light and pretty sharp cut off to spare the other drivers eyes!.

Looking to add a set of Fog lights that supplement the 100 Series abysmal light output.

These XPrites have my interest, so does the ARB LED option, the price isn't all that different... anyone have experience with both?

I would love a head to head comparison.

Not really. I am sure you can find some pretty bright led lights in that size, but you gotta make sure they have a decent cut off and cast most of the light on the ground where you really need it.

I run / ran the xprite. They were decent while they lasted but pooped out on me after 2 years. I haven’t replaced them yet. Likely going with Slee retrofit ... or just buying an entirely new truck bc of the fog light output alone

I tried LASFIT In the high beam but they wouldn't turn on. Tried all sorts of things like switching terminals and stuff. Help a brother out and post a link to the ones you were able to make work!

Only run them in the 100 not the wifes LX. You Lexus guys have too many fancy wires for me

I ran the Xprites. The install was a bit tortured and the overall quality of the output was meh. They did work.

Looking to supplement my non-highbeam lights, I looked at brackets from Slee (known quality) and Paranoid Fabrications (unknown quality to me). As the Paranoid brackets were $30, I rolled the dice. They're perfect for what they are, which is a couple pieces of bent aluminum that bolt onto the ARB insert and hold either Baja or Diode lights. Other lights my also fit.

Being a Baja fanboy, I was hoping that their Squadrons would fit the bill, but DD S3 has a better SAE fog that's ultimately a bit cheaper. The cutoff is good and the lenses are changeable, just like Bajas. Baja is still king otherwise.

The DD S3's come in white or yellow. Their whites come at 6500k (which sucks). Yellows from the factory come with the yellow lens and a 4000K LED (per DD). I bought the yellow, plus white replacement SAE fog lenses, netting at 4000K light (theoretically). I have run the yellows in dense fog and to supplement my low beams and they were really good. I haven't fully tested the white lenses yet.

In my state it is legal to run white or yellow fogs in addition to low beams at any time. The fogs are wired into my factory lighting and activated from the stalk. Any vehicle inspection would find that they are of the proper type, output, configuration and activation to qualify as fog lights, i.e., I'm legal to run them anytime. Your state may vary.

Interesting info. My 01 has Baja squadrons with yellow lens. With OEM bulbs in the factory housing they looked pretty bright. But now with LED bulbs they are pretty in-effective, I can't even tell if they are on! I need to figure out a way to turn the fogs on with out headlights. In heavy snow, fog or even rain, just running yellow fogs, down low would be great for visibility.
Oh well at least the yellow glow does look pretty good from the outside!

The amber Xprites I installed are now going on 3+ years in the bumper and still work great. They are fantastic DOT compliant fog lights that fill in between the bumper and stock low beam pattern as well as spilling into the ditches. I run them anytime my headlights are on.

I would like to see how the ARB LED fog lights perform. Maybe @Asanka or @CBeckFJ could share a picture of the light output of the ARB LED's?

Yeah, big lights to compensate for the small... mpg's. Those are stedi 9" driving lights, they throw an incredible amount of light, and they don't look as obnoxious with the covers on.

Man I wish I'd read this thread before I got them. These fog lights are the first ARB product that I've been straight up disappointed by.

I have the Stedi fogs for the ARB bumper. Havent installed them yet (bumper gets here next week) but I can post a picture or two later. Like all of their products they look great/well made.

I currently have a winch, Stedi fogs and Stedi TypeX Pro all sitting on my work bench waiting for a bumper to arrive lol

After almost 4 years my amber Xprite fog lights filled with moisture and started blowing the fog light fuse. I ordered the Stedi fog lights designed for the ARB deluxe bumper as a replacement. I added some 9006 plugs to the Stedi harness so they would plug into the factory LC fog light harness. They installed quickly and easily.

The Stedi replacements might be too bright to use as actual fog lights. Their light cut off isn't sharp, but they do concentrate the light down low and shouldn't blind oncoming traffic. The light color is also more blue than I'd prefer, maybe around 6,500k color temperature. They are brighter than the Xprite fog lights I previously had.

The DRL halo is kind of cheesy but I hooked it up to the parking light circuit.

I look forward to trying these things out in snow/fog/rain. I'll report back with my experience.
