yep, made a couple brackets out of plate aluminum. The key for me was to make 2 holes for mounting T bolts to the stock rak thereby preventing any racking or movement.

Is this the same Rhino Rack mount: Foxwing Thule and Yakima Bracket Kit - #31105 | Rhino-Rack

Looking to mount an ARB awning on my stock LX470 rack and this looks like a great solution!

Yes, that's the same Rhino Rack Mounts I used, but I believe the link you posted is for the brackets to mount the Rhino Rack Mount to a Thule or Yakima rack. Unfortunately, when I called Rhino Rack they said they don't sell the mounts separately.

Nah I'd rather just share them in hopes someone can improve the design and pass it back. would be glad to post a drwg of the dimensions though.

Would definitely like a drawing of the dimensions. My welder could make me a pair of those in no time.

I used these for my awning, which is not an ARB but has 2 t-slot mounts on the back, so it attaches similarly. These brackets wanted to rotate when tight with any weight applied to them. So I drilled the mounts to allow me to run a bolt with washers through and essentially tied it to the roof rack similar to RET2's plates above. I also had to make some plates that extend the single mounting hole plate up top, down to the bottom. Have about 1000 miles on it with a 270 degree awning, seems plenty sturdy.

There are two types, I used the first:
Eezi-Awn G-Clamp Awning Mounting Bracket Set

This second type added a awning specific bracket for the E-Z Awnings

Re-mounted it this weekend, here are some detailed pics...

Yes, turns out the factory roof rails have a T slot in them. So, I bought some 5/8" T Slot bolts online and installed them in the rail and bolted them to an L bracket (made for Rhino Rack). Then simply mounted the awning to the L brackets. It sits high enough and I didn't have any problems with it being so close to the rail. I'll get some better pics up, but here's a pic on our way to HIH7. Survived the 5000 mile trek out to CO and back with no issues.

any change you know what width the T slots are? There are a few different 5/8" T-Slot nuts available McMaster-Carr

I used 5/16 T bolts but had to slightly grind the shoulders down a bit on my install

This looks like a great solution! You should sell these!
Yes@RET2, as a new (used) 200 series LC owner, I would pay dearly for these T-channel, bolt-on factory rail brackets that might hold a Rhino Rack Batwing awning. That was going to be my first mod, but I absolutely will not remove the stock rails and crossbars as Rhino suggests.

Something that may be an issue is you probably won't be able to open you rear hatch with the rear wing opened? This would be a deal breaker for me.

I bit the bullet today on a set of the Rago Fabrication mounts for the GX/T4R.

I’ll post up if they indeed work on my stock side bars.

I’m hoping to mount a new ARB 2500 to them.

@Greenbean Rago mounts will work. I have them on my 1998 LX (swapped from my 4runner). Most of the Toyota slotted side rail systems are the same. (not Tacoma)

Awesome thanks!

I’m preparing for next months week at Ocracoke Island on the sand. I despise the umbrellas for shade, Lol...

Can I ask were you able to assemble the mounts while leaving the roof rail in place? Then just get a helper to hold the awning up there and attach it.

No, you likely won't be able to. 100 series had a few different roof racks, but I believe all of them have to be removed to remove / install cross bar. If you can somehow slip the channel nut inside the rail and get the Rago mount attached, I think the amount of time and hassle for that will outweigh removing the rack. I took my cross bars off when I installed the Rago mount, so I can just take one side off if I need to move the Rago mount back to my 4runner. I use my own cross bars for tents, that have mounts that stay on truck permenant, so no issue with no crossbars for daily driving.

The end caps pop up pretty easy, and take care of the torx head bolts when removing, and then the whole rack should slide forward or rear to release from the captive center post.
