@MrMikeyG If a bullet AND pipe jaws are your parameters, the Wilton C series (C0-C1-C2-C3) is your only choice. The pic is a C3 I had recently. 6" jaws and 180 pounds!

As for ornamental castings... no one did it better than Prentiss.

I know the Bullets are all the rage from an esthetics point of view and a bit of a cult thing. And I have one myself. But I will say that from a design perspective, some others may have advantages. For instance, the Prentiss above has this support lip under the moving arm at the front. Mine (Bulldog 93) does too. That is a good thing. The Bullet does not. Also, if you look at the jaw bodies on my Bullet, under the grabbing "pads/jaws" (nomenclature?), where the pipe jaws are in the pic above, mine are rounded whereas the Prentiss' are flat and parallel. So I can put V blocks of sorts there on the Prentiss to hold a pipe, but not so with the Bullet.
 
@RUSH55 LOVE that Yost. These are great tools and still available new ($$$)!

@e9999 Wiltons are somewhat iconic but I have seen a number of broken castings where a lower jaw support would have helped. My favorites personally, are Columbians for aesthetics and function.
 
Wilton Bullet’s have the advantage of an enclosed housing and a centralized main nut. The enclosed design goes a long way toward keeping the inner workings protected from dust and debris as well as keeping the slide protected from damage. You’ll never see the back of the slide beat up from someone mindlessly using it as an anvil, or the bottom of the slide broke from someone dropping it off the back of a truck.
The centralized nut is machined square so that there isn’t any need for shims or stop pins that would otherwise cause slop in the action of the dynamic.
 
@bhsdriller Any Wilton medium duty made in the last 40 years has been imported. If "Made in USA" isn't cast into body, it may be a Wilton but not a "real" Wilton.
 
nice.. Just a biggish plate on top and you're set. A few anchors in the concrete and done! (I have a couple of flush anchor sets buried around so I can move my devices as needed.)
 
That's a pretty cool freebie. I wonder what it was?
 
Maybe it had a pedal and a vertical actuator rod inside that lifted something on top?
 
Welcome to the group. The 4 hole Reeds are fantastic vises! At one time I had the whole run from 2" to the MASSIVE 108R! Post some pics after your message count grows.
