The Beast! 6” jaw ROCK ISLAND #597. Not sure it’s weight, but it’s heavy!

I have a bunch more to get pictures of! I guess I have a problem too!😜

@TomH D'Oh! Oh well. The Landcruiser thing doesn't really come up in craigslist email correspondence. I thought the embossed/stamped "Australia" on it was pretty cool.

That "super baby" Wilton is the bees knees! Really cool to see what folks out there can whip up at home.

@KT40 that is a beautiful Wilton! Welcome to the group here. If you open it up all the way and look under the slide on the “key way” you will see a date stamp. Yours looks like an early 60s vintage. Here is the date on my C3.

Chicago Wiltons are typically from the 40s. During the 50s and 60s they stamped them with a date 5 years post manufacture for warranty. Yours is such a vise with Guaran Exp. Date. Very cool.

@RUSH55 Older Athols have "cast in" jaws (non replaceable). This perfectly demonstrates the difference in two quality vises; the medium duty Desmond and the heavy duty Athol of similar size. Great pick up! Look familiar @ceylonfj40nut ?

@KT40 Just looking again at your Tiny German vise. Polish and German vises can all claim the oddity of having a backward moving dynamic jaw (Heuer, and FPU come to mind). Pretty neat to see.

I don't know guys... those of you showing off those ginormous vises...

there is a lot of talk out there among armchair psychologists about men overcompensating with big tools... :D
