I am getting ready to lay down some herculiner on my rockers and looking for some tips to application. I am still a little torn on whether to spray it on or roll it on. I know HF used to have a spray texture gun, but I can't find it on their website, anyone else have another source?

Thanks,

Dylan

Any auto body paint store should have a siphon gun to spray herc or similar. They run about 35.00 around here. Be sure to let em know what you're spraying. It's just a tube, basically, with a trigger. You don't want a paint gun here.

use a HF texture gun ;)

Always been there ;)

I brushed 3 coats on my skidplates. Worked out wonderful, the brushes where easy and I felt I had a lot of control.

Expect the first coat to look really bad, the second is the one where it really starts looking like it's supposed to.

I am new to paint guns and texture guns. I got the HF texture gun and used it for some dry wall texturing- also plan on using it for the bedliner.
Pulling the trigger sprayed the mud great but is the gun supposed to continually spray air even when the trigger isn't pressed?

TIA

it is not supposed to leak air all the time

It is more like a big cheesy air paint gun..

You guys are talking about two different types of guns. Hes asking about a hopper style texture gun not a siphon feed schutz gun, And yes the hopper blows air continuosly add a air shut off valve between the gun and air hose. Also I would not waste my money on the herculiner crap !! save up for a professionally sprayed in bed liner there is no comparrison

If you haven't bought the stuff yet, get the smooth Durabac. It is much better for the inside of the truck. If you have ever had to lay on the floor to work on a dash, the rough stuff is nasty on the back. Get a siphon feed gun, the hopper gun is for shooting drywall texture. It might work, but would be a killer to clean.

Not all hopper guns flow continously.

The professional spray bedliners are available in a do it yourself gallon..
That is what I am going to use on the 60..

I recently (like two weeks ago) Sprayed Rattleguard ( www.rattleguard.com ) bedliner along the lower half of the cruiser. I used a Shutz type undercoating gun, and it worked perfectly. Basically, it was a slower version of using the hopper gun. Better suited for my barely capable 2hp compressor.

Is Herc or Durabak, etc thick enough to spray w/ one of these? The Rattleguard was like cold honey, and as I said, it sprayed perfectly w/ the huge tip size.
