Hi all, I'm David from Southeast AZ, recently bought a '77 fj40. Attached is a pic of it- it's totally stock and original, showing 55,000miles on the Odo, but i'm sure it's probably 155,000, based on how worn out (frayed) the seat belts were prior to me r&r'ing them. I'm the 3rd owner, after the 2nd PO recv'd it from a family friend to resell at his Classic used car lot after he displayed it in his showroom for awhile, and got tired of it leaking various fluids on the floor, LOL. It's spent it's life on a farm, being periodically serviced by an independent Mechanic, but was cosmetically neglected. Luckily, being a high-desert dweller, the only rust I've found so far is the rear floor area, and some under under the drvr's seat, but not severe. I am enjoying cleaning it up, replacing what is worn out, and just generally refurbishing it. Now that I'm retired, I have a lot of free time to spend doing this, as much as the wife allows LOL! I've learned so much on this forum, it's amazing how much knowledge is here. Please comment, or let me know if anyone out there wants to talk about 40's, etc.

Thanks airon! Yeah, it's what I call a "ten-footer". Looks pretty good from at least 10 feet away! LOL!

Congrats, that's a very nice truck,

Welcome to the madness !

the wheels would not have originally been painted body color, and the bumper would have been pewter colored.
i suspect there may have been a repaint at one time or another. the paint on the hood looks to be in great shape...too great a shape for original paint in AZ.

I like it! Another Cruiser gone to a loving home. In response to your last statement I don't think anyone here wants to talk about FJ40s. Darn. More pics would be great so we can critique and offer somewhat sound advice....

Brian- yeah, I did get the bumper and associated hardware powder coated Satin Black because I like it that way. And it does have some rattle can paint patches here and there. But overall it is original paint, albeit very oxidized and scuffed. What color are the rims supposed to be? The mechanicals are what I mentioned as original, and much need some attention,LOL. I'm really not interested in making this 40 a factory correct 100% original, just nicer than it was when I acquired it.
