:bounce::steer::princess:loves it...I love it...best vehicle investment I ever made, hands down. The 4 speed is grrrrr8! a 5er would be the beez neez. woke that old tired 3FE right up- 15-16 MPG all day long.....we're just under 340K right now...the boss said she wants a new driver seat, some headlights, and some new shocks- I will add new spring bushings and maybe re-arched leaves as well....Cheers!

Awesome! I've finally finished rebuilding a 3FE and stuck the H42 on it last night and will put the assembly into the truck over the weekend. Your thread has been an inspiration and help. I'll be following your example on the cross member adapters too.

Now if I can only find some bloody drive shafts in my price range. Although I think I'm going to follow your lead and chop the 62's front drive shaft.

Remind me, aren't the earlier tcase side flanges different than the later style tcase? Wont I need to source the d-shaft flange if I use the 62's front d-shaft?

And on your mileage, thats 15-16 mixed? What are your lows and highs?

Top speed

Lamb,
What size tires are you running and what R P ms are you turning at 65 and 70 MPH.

Same here. Nothing better to do for an FJ62. I noticed a remarkable change for the better in terms of fuel consumption. Mixed driving 14 or so, and up to 17 on the highway when it's all freeway.

I can strongly recommend the H55f as well. The overdrive really helps to keep the motor speed reasonable on the freeway. If you have a chance to swap to the 5 speed, you won't be sorry, and all the work is already done.

the 6 year update... still going strong... well, it got a less used 3FE a few years back, an A/C overhaul, some TT vinyl flooring, couple detail parts, freshly stuffed seats, and some bodywork. next on the list is getting the windows tinted, and putting the bumpers back on. one of these years, I'll add the 5th gear...

Yes, the 3FE in the Pig got some great mileage to and from the Pig Party!

It proves everyday to have been well spent resources. One of the best decisions I have ever made. I’m sure you’ll feel the same with your!
