The first few tanks with a new V8 will yield poor mileage! This is due to the excitement of being able to press the skinny pedal and have the truck actually move rapidly.

Yeah I figure the first 1000 miles will be god-awful mileage, and then I'll get used to being able to pass the bicyclist and speed-walkers.
You R 100% right! I have a turbo charged sports car and the only time I ever got good gas milage out of that thing was when I drove it out here from California. But even on it's worst day it is still at 18mpg and that would ROCK in the landcruiser!

Yep, It is on now tore down the front end got her drained of fluids. Tomorrow I will work on getting it ready to pull. JEEZ I hope I remember how to put it all back together??!!

Oh and the layaway plan has been discontinued due to lack of space Just buy a piece at a time and pretty soon you will be ready. and I can use either a 5 speed or the 4l60e tranny. Just depends on what you like to drive. And I haven't had an 80 to tear into yet. I am sure I will get the chance. That would be a rip and tear!! Notice that Vortec in the background?! Makes you want to cry

OK Gas.... Unless you want more Bling and less computer that's the way to go. But the Vortec can produce very simialar #s. Also depending on your EPA req. you would have to adjust from there. Nice project though. PM if you are really interested in the project and which way you want to go. The auto tranny is a little cheaper and easier for some wife's to drive,And yes you use an adapter. It wouldn't matter which truck BTW. Hell if you own a RX or a VW and want the Vortec I would find a way to do it! The RX I have done already though.
