I found this 45 in mariposa about 8 months ago. The add was a little misleading and didnt really read as good as the truck really was! Previous owner bought the truck in 1985 in northern california, apparently it was used on a college campus as a utility vehicle! He then tore it down to restore and modify. He installed a 76 front clip to take advantage of the late model dash and booster etc. He then painted it and replaced every piece of rubber and weatherstrip(you could still order everything from spector back then.By now it was 1995 and was a complete roller with no drivetrain installed. It came with a sbc auto combo. It then sat from 1995 til 2014 in his well insulated shop.I think health issues was the reason for it not getting finished.I towed it home with all sorts of build ideas. The fact that I had a drivetrain, sitting around ready to install made it an easy decision. Mild 350 chevy with fast fuel injection, late cruiser 4 spd,splitcase,4 wheel disk brakes, factory full float rear,5.29 gears rear locked,sprungover,39.5 boggers, etc. I just got it running last week and it is running and driving well, some small stuff to finish up but its 95 %. Just removed the top and have done the summer treatment with a bimini top on factory bows, split windshield and a bj44 rear seat for the kids! This 45 cab and bed are the best I have ever seen, the wheel wells are mint, not one dent and never any rust anywhere! The gentleman who owned this was super nice, and very detail oriented, and did a fantastic job! Its time to start enjoying the summer fun rig! I have set up the axles to be sprung under as well and may drop it down and put some "normal" tires on it, its pretty big at the moment!

California is truly the land of Milk and Honey as far as 45 pickups. Old FJ40s still keep showing up in AZ but in forty years of owning Land Cruisers I've seen maybe a half dozen show up here. When I decided I had to have one the only one I could find local was sitting with a load of sand in the bed and the owners refused to sell because it belonged to their son who had pasted away. I ended up stealing one out of CA.

Couple questions, Is that a 40 series or 60 series FF? Wheels look like they stick out pretty far. Which windshield does it have, 66/67 or 68-74?

Its a 40 ff rear, the wheels are 15x12 and tires are 18 inch wide! The windshield is a factory split windshield from pakistan. California has been a good location to have a 45 addiction, this is the 14th one I have found here in california. I currently know of three more but the owners will not budge!

14th one?? That's not even fair!! Time for me to move to Cali and enjoy the rust free 45 bliss :grinpimp:

BTW sweet truck!

My mistake should have noticed and was already mentioned. Modified latch or later model with threaded knob? Seen them before just not sure how late Pakistan got them.

Hoping one of these days to find someone with 60 series FF their willing to part with. Finding 40 series FF hasn't been a issue.

I have a question ? I am restoring an FJ45 , 1965, and have had zero luck finding the tail lamp assemblies. Now, yours looks like from a later FJ40 as the ones for the early 1964-1967 , were different. Can you let me know if the ones you have actually fit the valence or if the valence was modified to fit another type. Thanks. (Nice truck , by the way)
