Thoughts on the roll on?

I’m about to do my hard top (shush don’t tell anyone)

I had planned to buy the sprayer and kit. However..

I've never sprayed the Monstaliner on, I have only rolled it. From the product perspective, I have no complaints about the Monstaliner, all of my issues have come from the failure of the primer coat.

I'm sure the spray on instalation would be better in every way, except maybe the prep work of taping everything off.

Now we're getting somewhere.

Are they using magchloride up there? Mine doesn’t leave garage much from the snow flying to a bit after it melts
Yes.

Magnesium chloride
Sodium chloride
Traction sand

I'll be the first to admit, if I didn't drive it all winter long I wouldn't have half of the problems that I do, especially the rust problems.

On the flip side, I ain't taking it with me when I die, better enjoy it now. I didn't build it to be afraid of driving it.

I get it. I just prefer playing the rocks, but it does its fair share of damage…

Somewhere around 4 cans of Fluid Film get sprayed on the underside of my 40 also, it's safe to say without that I'd be dealing with a helluva lot more rust than I do now.

I also tripped over a quart of POR 15 hiding in my stash.

You’d better be careful walking around during ski season smelling like a sheep.

Pics of the wheel wells, there's a common denominator between all of these areas that the epoxy primer failed. These have all been areas that I patched with fresh steel, either from Real Steel, or local sheet metal.

The one area that I haven't seen anything fail is the rear sill that I got from @Awl_TEQ back in the day.

I don't know if there is a difference between the metals, or a difference in coatings across the border to the north.

Or it all boils down to piss poor prep on the body guy. (Me)

Could it be mill scale? I've read if it's not addressed, it can effect paint adheasion overtime.

Great updates.

Question for you with your experience… the 4Plus rear tire/basket… what if anything do you do with keeping the swing arms greased? I’m going on year one with mine and wondering what others do.

Thx

I drilled and tapped a greaze zerk in each pivot housing, if it starts feeling a little stiff I lube it up!

If I remember correctly that's not as big of an issue on thinner guage sheet metal.

I may very well be wrong.

The only Mill Scale I'm interested in is from Lockhart Texas.

Ah. The black hand has also claimed me once recently. I wish it would have outlined my transgression rather than just administering swift judgement. I don’t get on Mud but six times a day now. Cut way back, thank you hand!

Pardon me for not knowing, do you mind sharing where you like to ski?

Flatlander here, heading to Big Sky in Feb though.
I've never skied at Big Sky, some people love it, but for the price of a day pass there I can get a season pass down the road from me at Lost Trail. Helps that it is local.

Straight up mom and pop resort, no glitz, no glamor, just laid back skiing.

Staying in the Bitterroot, or over at Jackson Hot Springs, might be a fraction of the cost of a trip to Big Sky.

Big Sky does have miles more terrain, and undoubtedly better skiing, but if you don't ski very often, is it worth thousands just to ski the basic stuff that you could ski elsewhere for less? Unless you're an advanced skier.

February should be good.
