Careful with the WIX filter, those have been the culprit to quite an few oil starvation engine failures in the 80 section due to a faulty valve. I switched to a Motorcraft FL-1A in the 40 and the Toyota YZ filter for the 80.

Interesting. I actually went to the Wix after some reading here in tech. I have a Mobil 1 filter sitting on the workbench also, I bought the Wix while at the local parts place while picking up some other stuff.

I switched both cruisers and my Chevelle to wix because of good reviews. Wonder if it’s something specific to the 80 series design? I’ve been told the wix and Napa gold are same thing, just with an extra digit in the part number. Chevelle guys seem to think wix filter is as good as the Pope’s blessing. The Bob is the oil guy site has days you can read about filters and still not have a clue.

With zero issue. Not on an 80 series or 40, but the exact filter.
I would run it, actually I just looked and that’s what is on my 40 as well.
- side tech note : I put a manual temp gauge in the factory head location recently and the highest I have seen is 190 degrees. In 90+ heat running hard. But also on an ole F motor not a 2f

The issue with the WIX/NAPA filters in the 80 section has been the anti-drainback value failing, resulting in oil starvation and spun bearings. The filter mounts to the side of the block at a 90 degree angle in 1FZ-FE's so maybe the orientation of the filter contributes to the problem. In any event, I've switched after reading multiple threads about sudden loss of oil pressure and toasted engines. Just sharing with those running the mighty 2F in their 40's.
If I ever get a new engine again I'm installing a pre-oiler. Filters are interesting subject. I have a old Franz unit that I have never installed. Big fan of adding some really powerful magnets to the mix.
The internet is suggesting that NAPA and WIX are a unique combination by-pass and anti-drain back valve design? Maybe that is the failure?

I’ve seen him twice- Zappa covering Zappa. Definitely gets you thinking. Apparently the family is suing him because of licensing so he doesn’t cover any of Franks songs anymore.
There was a good skit years back on SNL about celebrity children's being victims of crappy names and needing help.

That's a shame. It's amazing how even if someone isn't right and famous, when they die the vultures swoop in all wanting to grab everything they can. Thankfully I don't have to worry about that. 20 years ago I walked away and disowned them all and disappeared. Shhh... don't tell them I'm here!
