Thinking I'd like to change out my factory steering wheel to something aftermarket. My existing wheel is in fine shape, I'd retain it for a future owner.

Has anyone done this? What's a good source? Something like a pre-airbag 80 series with leather would be nice. Fit issues or other considerations I need to make?

What say you, sayers?

Interested in this as well, just took apart my steering wheel yesterday to fix my headlight switch and was surprised how easily it came apart. Missed out on a wood nardi wheel in the for sale area. Where can I find one and the hub necessary to adapt it?

I haven't heard of an aftermarket replacement so I'm useless there but I plan on doing something like this paracord wrap whenever I get off my ass and do it.

My wheel was kind of busted up, so I found a used Toms Racing wheel. The horn doesn't work, I have to lengthen the
slider bushing that makes contact with the back of the horn.. I like it as it's 1" leather and it's smaller diameter so easier
for me. I had a 70 series wheel on there for a year, but it was larger diameter and I found that too uncomfortable.

We also have a '98 RAV4 at home. It has a really nice steering wheel, I will be looking at removing it and seeing
how it fits into my BJ74. Smaller, and has a really nice feel.
So I like to have a bit smaller wheel to fit when the wheel is tilted into driving position.

What about the RAV4's airbag. Can it be removed and still have the center section and horn?

I just installed a late 80s Corolla wheel, needed some mods but easy enough! Love the smaller diameter, thicker, closer to driver and the fact that it's a Toyota wheel!

Yes, with the small mods it's all in order. just drove for 4 hours today, loving it.
With the wheel 'backspacing' it now feels like my lights are on high, since the light and washer switch is about an inch further away. :)

I have similar wheel but mine is aged a little bit. They come in different diameters as I recall.
