Aftermarket Steering Wheel........

Dragging up an old post. Do any of the aftermarket wheel options (besides the coralla) actually get the wheel closer to the driver? I need a way to extend the wheel a few inches so it is closer.

I have a Nardi wheel on mine. It's a tad smaller DIA than the stock wheel which is good for me because I am bigger so it gives me a little more room. But it also gets in the way of the gauges which can get annoying.

What size is this wheel? Looking for an aftermarket nardy wheel but couldnt find info on MM size. Dont want too small but no longer want the school bus sized oem wheel

It's 380mm. It is a little smaller than the stock one but I would try to find 390mm-400mm if possible. The one I have size wise is great but it blocks the gauges just a little bit..

Finally got around to installing it...

This is epic. I love this work.

Did you use an NRG hub? If so... which one? I'm seeing the SRK-121H as the one that's applicable to the FJ60/62 column... but I don't know for certain. Anyone done this?

(long story short; I need more security haha)

Some adapters do move the wheel towards the driver. You could always get some spacers made up.

Update: NRG PART WORKS

The NRG SRK-121H hub adapts fine to the FJ60 column.
(I did step-bit the internal backing of the hub to give it a bit more clearance down on the shaft... but that was just my preference)

...don't mind my Bowtie. I'm a fancy boi.

NOTE:
I installed this about 1-2 years ago, and it's run great for my purposes. Ran one on my old 22RE 4x4, and love it for the 'you can get in.. .but you're NOT stealing this' effect of wheel removal. Total cost was about 300$ or so for the parts (wheel, hub, quick release)

and now a HUGE Non US Fj60 wheel:

[/QUOTE]

Would this non US one fit a 1987 HJ61 without any modifications?

call me crazy, but i love the OG fj60 wheel.. just looks and feels, correct
You're not wrong, dude. Trouble is, people want to hold it... and the truck that comes along with it.

Removable wheels are yet another bulwark to such bastards

I love my stock fj60 wheel. Look, feel, all familiar. That being said, I just bought a grant wheel to replace it. Figured it was time for a change.

Worst case scenario, I hate it, and I bolt the fj60 wheel back on.

Was looking to do similar setup to this for my 62. Does the horn still work? Anything special I need to buy to make sure it does? Also, great pic man! 101S of SB?

Nailed it! Just after Carp going south. Works Bell hub and Nardi wheel, everything functions as designed.

The only thing I changed was the boot. I wasn't happy with the length, so I contacted Works Bell Japan and they sent me the longest boot they offered, which worked perfectly. I'd recommend contacting them directly. If you need details, shoot me a pm.

X-post from my build thread. I think I'm really going to like this wheel, but I haven't driven it quite yet.

EDIT: More recent pic. After a few thousand miles of driving I'm loving the smaller diameter wheel. It has a thicker cross-section than the stock wheel, which makes it much easier to hold on to.

Looks really good with that tan (and brown) interior!

I'm getting ready for a change also, the Corolla wheel is great, but a bit on the small side. Notice it with elbow placement on long trips...

Maybe solution is to get armrests on the BMW seats...
