Fits my early '72 (built in '71) like a glove.

Lower Dash Pads

Is there any more progress on the lower pads? I have the upper pad and want the same quality on the lowers. The upper fits the 78 like the OEM and looks better.

Hope the bathroom got finished!!

They have been sitting on a table waiting to be finished. We have run some prototypes on them and still not happy with the fit. Holes line up for attachment but it is a squeeze to slide the pad down to align the screw holes below. More hours of grinding and sanding on tool to get a better fit.

It's close but I haven't had much time to dedicate to them as we have been working on OEM projects. OEM pays the bills so you can guess which projects wins out.

Babysitting my grandson today and the rest of the week so it will be next week before I can get to them.

I apologize for not getting the lower dash pads out sooner and keeping everyones hopes up and then down. There's only 24 hrs in a day!

No apologies needed. Like everyone else just real happy that you are taking the time to make a superior product. Let us know when to place the orders...I want one of the first runs. THANKS!!!!!

TPI was selling this product in 2006. IIRC the price was around $200 at that time. I came close to buying one but decided to divert the bucks to a set of Bilsteins.

Thanks, Sea Knight. Yes we here at TPI Land Cruiser have manufactured the original replacement Dash since 1996. I believe, up until now, we have been the only manufacturer of the true Replacement Dash (with dash light cutout). Part #T40DASH. Many of you may have seen/purchased the Dash from other vendors not knowing we were the actual supplier. Unfortunately, we can no longer sell at the 1996 price of $200.00. It has gone up to $329.95 retail and $299.00 to TLCA and TPI News Letter Members. But we will always try our best to fight the rising cost of materials without ever sacrificing the quality of our dash. Thanks, bob@tpi

Yes the Dash pad is in production. I had about a week where we were waiting on fabricated steel due to our supplier being swamped as well.

Lower dash pads are close but have not had any time to work on them. We are swamped with OEM production and that's what pays the bills. I hope to get to them within the next month.

Hey Guys,

I haven't been able to view PM's on the phone. I've been stuck at the Hospital for the past few days due to Little brother has taken seriously ill. I will try to get back with you in the coming week. Thanks for your patience.

lower dash pad progress?

Any progress towards making lower dash pads available? I have upper dash pad and roll bar pads and love them.

Still in business? Any chance you will be removing the logo making a new mold without it?

Would black 3M 5200 cover it up well? :-)

Hey Guys,

Take care of your family it's far more important. I hope your brother gets well.

TLCJC,

Yes we are still in business. I have no idea what 3M 5200 is.

No on new tool without Logo.....I wish we didn't have the porosity in the tool or there would never had been a logo. (You will have to go waaaaay back in the thread to know why there is a Logo.) Sorry guys/girls the reason is that there just isn't enough 40's out there to justify the expense for a new tool.

Bikersmurf,
Thanks for the encouragement. As Brian stated that was an old post but still I appreciate your comment. It's been a little over a year ago that my little brother went into the Hospital. He ended up in the Mayo Clinic had to have a liver transplant. He owns a bar and grill but he doesn't drink. Heck, I drink enough for the both of us, however after this I have drastically cut back (According to my wife it still isn't enough!!). He had been on an antibiotics that evidently destroyed his liver.

Just thought I should respond.....

Before anyone asks I should be working on the lower dash pads later this week. To be honest I've forgotten about them, every now and then I'll get an email from you guys rattling my chains to get the lower dash pads done. Keep it up because it does help to remind me to get back out there and at least spend 30 to 45 minutes on them. They are close, I am hoping by Wednesday or Thursday I might be able to get a couple more hours on them. In the mean time I have to fix the middle daughters 80. She hit a deer with it.

I was going to take it out to Moab with 4 other buddies on an excursion. My wife as well as all 3 daughters made the comment that if I took it out there, they know and I should know that it wouldn't come back the same. Ended up not going to Moab and she hit a deer the week I would have had it out in Moab!!! Funny how the argument doesn't work in the reverse order?????

KARMA SUCKS!!!!

Barring any drastic emergencies I should have the lower dash pad tools completed by middle of next week and I'm hoping we could run production on some. I know I've lied to you time and time again about getting this done......but I'm tired of stepping over the tools and moving them back and forth. I've got a couple to three days I can actually spend on the shop floor.

By the way all upper dash pads for the month of December will be 15% off. Shameless plug there.

is that discount automatically taken at checkout?

Oh.....Price will go back to $275 January 1st. Every year we get a bunch of wives buying their fj40 loving husbands a dash for Christmas (thats not to say there aren't women out there buying dashes for themselves but the majority of them are for the husband )......So why not make it a little less painful.
