Greg,
Great job on the lower dash pads! Here is a happy customer's photo for you.

See my build thread for some helpful tips on removal of the existing lower dash pads.

I'm glad to hear you guys are happy with them. Really happy to get that project done.

Once again thanks to all of you for being patient.

Just crawled out from under my 40. I dropped the 3rd member in the rear [fzj80 locking axles under it]. Shattered a pinion shaft on some rocks back in October. 1st chance I've had to work on it.

Going to build some protection as it happened twice in one weekend.!!! But I will save that discussion for another thread.

Technical: Put fjz80 locking differentials/axles under my 40 with coil springs on the front have yet to perform a sprung over axle on the rear (Stayed with the leafs on the rear pros and cons to that).

Put my topper back on and the weight of it exaggerated the squat in the rear. I can't adjust my headlights down enough to keep from bothering oncoming traffic.

Thought I would provide an update to some changes regarding the dashes.

We've changed shipping from UPS to USPS and we can ship to PO Boxes now.

Countries we can ship UPPER DASH PAD to utilizing USPS are:

Canada, New Zealand, France, Crete, Malta, Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, England, Ireland, Finland, Germany, Gilbraltar, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macao, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, San Marino, Slovak Republic (Slovakia), Sweeden, Switzerland, Vatican City

HOWEVER, it may be cheaper to go through e-bay for International. Selling/shipping on ebay utilizing their Global Shipping Program. It's listed as a "FJ40 Dash Pad International Sales Only". I checked it to ship to Sydney Australia and the cost was $67.64 with no import charges. I set it up is I ship it to their facility in Tennessee and they then ship it to Australia for a lot lower cost than what it would cost me to ship any other way.

Downside.......
if you ordered today probably take 15 days to receive.
Price: e-bay rapes me when you sell on their website so I have to charge more.

LOWER DASH PADS:

We ran another production run in December of lower dash pads. We're sold out again but I should be able to get back into that chemistry next week. Almost the same with the Upper Dash Pads

Setting up international shipping on it but not sure if it's going to jack up the UPPER DASH PAD? (Somehow let an upper dash pad ship internationally when physically USPS won't ship it) Since the box on the lower dash pad is only 24" we can ship it almost anywhere. Sold some to a guy in Philippines (He actually had them shipped to New Jersey and is taking them on the plane with him when he goes back) but I ran the cost was $32 First Class and $46 Priority Mail.

Trying to work through the bugs. If you order and are international, contact me first because if jacks up due to shipping we will want to refund and start all over. I may have to just perform all international shipments myself.

JUST THOUGHT I WOULD PROVIDE AN FYI:

Upper Dash Pad Retainer Clip will soon be available. Just finished up the design and ordered some from our steel supplier.

If you go to Spector Off Road page 172 of their catalog it's Part Number 13 on the diagram or PN 172-13. (I hate using someone else's web-site, I need to develop our own drawing!) This is needed to install our Dash or an OEM dash. As I understand it they are no longer available from Toyota and used ones can not be found? I had a customer recently who ordered a dash but did not have the retaining clip. This has happened in the past but they have always been able to find one on the internet. I spent approximately 6 hrs. searching for a retainer clip. Couldn't find one.

Based off my research the PN is 55449-60010

I anticipate that it will be 3 to 4 weeks before I will have them on our web-site, if sooner I'll let you know.

Awesome. This is a necessity. I will add the tolerances are tight. If the bracket it too long on the windshield side it can scrape the paint right off the windshield frame.

Update FWIW,

Lower Dash Pads for the older 40's came up in another thread but I thought I would post here as well as some people are following this thread for progress.

Patternmaker evidently didn't want to jack with this project as his quote was outrageous. They are swamped working about 15 hrs. overtime per week. Started working on the pattern myself in my spare time.

Finished up the bottom of the pattern Saturday night. This will be the side that you see. Pretty pleased with it, looks good. Will try and finish the top this week and then send off to have a tool made. It will be textured just like our present lower dash pads, same density, and same attachment to dash (Screws where Mr. T had but we utilize bolts/nut instead of pin and spring clip).

Should be available soon.

Upper Dash Pad Retainer Clip will soon be available, we received them in I just need to find time to brake and put them on the website.

AUSTRALIA: FYI
I just shipped two roll bar pad sets in one box to a gentleman in Australia, Shipping cost was less than $76 USD or put it another $38 shipping per set if two are ordered.

If you don't hear anything out of me.....Rattle my chains and I'll get back on it.

Saint,

That Sir is called rattling my chains. I'll tear a dash off my 40 to make sure everything matches up. It's gonna take me a little while.

On a another note here's all that is left to finish the patterns fot the early lower dash pad.

Notice the nice work station the boss gets?

Thought I would provide an update in regards to the Pre 1972 Lower Dash Pads:

Tool came in and shrinkages was more than anticipated/calculated ?????
I should have been within 1/32" or less????
Should have had 1% came up with 1.45%

There is a 1/4" gap on the right hand side of the steering column with the original lower dash pad as seen in the 1st picture.
Second picture shows where the gap would be if I use this tool as is based off my best calculations(Really mean guess at this point)?????
Instead of the 1/4" Gap it would be 1/2". I don't know if that will look all that bad, I'll probably run one or two and fit up to see how it's going to look. One thought is that I could slide everything to the left.

But in the long run I know I won't be happy with it.

Options at present are to either go back to my guy who cast the tool or modify this one, Weld it up on the back side and mill it out.

Obviously, this is a close up picture......Real hard to hold the dash pad and shoot the picture with your hands crossed over each other. In the second picture you can see a faint line where I traced where the pad originally set.
