Well, Drew, I think you just sold me on the Electric. (going into a '75 btw). But I'll wait a bit and see what others have to say.

Also, when I click on knoobs.com, how come I get a porno site ?!?

ikid-ikid. (traffic just went up 10%)

Nice web-design, incidentally.

Ha, ya got me, I had a moment of panic. The name opens up so many great opportunities for taglines... "Nice knoobs"... "Check out the knoobs on that one!"... "I need to get my hands on some knoobs"... ahem.

:D

anything you guys unexpectedly encountered while installing the different setups ?

My electrical installation was straight forward. Download the instructions and follow them closely, they are quite good. You'll have to remove the stock oil pressure sender to install the Autometer one, and the new one sticks out a little further by the time you put in the adapter and sender. I thought it rub on my fuel filter under the battery tray but it doesn't. Overall I'm very pleased with gauges and lighting; one of the better mods I've done to my 40 to make driving it more fun.

Cuz, you forgot the photos of your new gauges. Fortunately I have them.

That's a very professional installation. Good job Sir.;)

Now get something like this included customized and it would be perfect!

Putting together a set for the electrical gauges wouldn't be hard as those gauge faces unscrew from the gauge. Mechanical would be doable as well, just a bit more effort to create and apply.

I have the art for the gauges, it would be fairly straight forward to adjust it for the sweep of the autometer gauges.

Installed my new gauge kit with mechanical gauges. All went fine except for fuel gauge was pegged to full when turned on. Checked connections could not find any issues. So for kicks I put the gauge back in original cluster and plugged in. Now it won't move off empty. I checked grounding tab during installations. Did I burn up the gauge? It has worked perfect before switch.

The gauge is likely fine, I tortured several when developing the kits and none suffered permanently.

Make sure a) the grounding lug from the harness has good contact with the main gauge bracket b) the gauge posts are properly surrounded by the insulating tubes and not contacting the bracket, and c) that the grounding tab has good contact.

You may also try sanding the bracket a bit where the grounding tab and lug will meet it - galvanized steel should be plenty conductive but I have experienced some trouble before.

Installed my mechanical set! Love the look! My only problem is there is nowhere to really grip the gauge to tighten up the lock-nut to the tab. Not a design flaw to the kit but reality.

Thanks to everyone who ordered one my kits over these couple years. I've enjoyed making them and I hope you've enjoyed them as well.

But... its time to move on; I'm leaving the cruiser parts business. I have a small number (3 or 4) of brackets left but when they're gone thats it.

Thanks fellas, its been fun!

I need one - how much are they again?

Are you getting out of making the shifter knobs as well? I need PTO and 2 t-case levers.

Wow, this was one of those project I have been planning on getting around to. I just ordered a bracket on the website. Hopefully I'm not too late!

I'll sell mine for $500 ...

IkidIkid.

But if somebody did pay $500, I bet he'd make more ... :D

We're gonna miss your wonderful products, Drew. Hope you're gonna stick around, though...

Why you getting out of the business, if I may ask ?

:hhmm:

Life is just complicated right now; my customer service has been getting worse and worse and its just time to call it before I ruin my reputation.

I'm getting married this year and I'm trying hard to change careers and move across the country. Plus my landlord has decided to sell the place I'm living in so my lease could any at any moment... my workshop needs to be streamlined cuz I won't be able to pack it up with only 30 days notice... I'm very messy.

I might start things up again when I get settled wherever I land. Or maybe I'll try something new. Who knows.

... plus there are some jackasses in Chat that I REALLY want to give a piece of my mind, but couldn't so long as everyone on 'mud was a potential customer. :D (kidding..... or am i?)

Well, to the future, then. And congratulations!
