Advice on whether I should buy a Land Cruiser

Jim C just recurved my dissy a few weeks ago. Took about 5 weeks door-to-door but totally worth it.
He also rebuilt my carb last year - made the truck finally run the way it was supposed to.
If you can live with the downtime, there's no better option.

That is your thermostat housing you have circled there. The water pump mounts below it. I can’t remember if a new pump comes with mounting hardware or not.
I’m just about to mount the old water pump—- bad idea? Lol

Everyone thinks I should get new but every $100 matters right now

Is it clean? Does it work? Are the bearings making a bunch of noise when you spin it? If it works there’s no reason not to put it on. Though, a new one from aisian is only $130-$150.

I have no idea on all accounts, I’ll try to give it a spin. Definitely NOT clean. Lol. s***— might have to just get a new one

Trying to figure out if I already have the bolts I need for water pump.

I have the part numbers, but how does one read quantity on partsouq diagrams? per the diagram:
9121241040's quanitiy
could either be 2, 3, or 4 is it the last digit or the first that tells you? (see attatched for illustrated confusion LOL)

Also, seems this water pump internal gasket has been discontinued and can't find it anywhere aftermarket. (1612461012) @cruisermatt any ideas?

The leading number with the * prefix refer back to the table embedded in the diagram. *1 parts are for Canada applications up to October 1981. *2 parts are for US applications up to October 1984 and *3 parts are for US applications after October 84. I think the difference between the *2 and *3 bolts is that the later bolt comes with a lock washer and may be a different grade bolt. Both are 10mm x 40mm. I believe the number in parenthesis is the total number needed. this can be confirmed by looking at the number of bolt holes in the associated gasket. I don't know why the Canadian application doesn't give the number. Maybe they assume Canadians are smarter. Usually the number required would come up when the part is selected, but not in this case. Maybe it's because these bolts are considered "standard parts".

And it looks like cruiser outfitters has the gasket between the water pump body and backing plate.

Jim sells the rubber caps in his kit.

I would get the block off plate. That way it’s reversible down the road.

I don’t think you’re gonna need that much vacuum line if you’re desmoggong the truck. 90% of that stuff will be gone depending on what components you keep, ie: HAC system. You will need vacuum to the dizzy and from the carb to the manifold I think. Been a minute since I looked at the desmog diagrams.

Get the remflex gasket kit. It’s far superior to the OEM. It’s like two or three times as thick and expands with a few heat cycles to take up any gaps you may have, though you shouldn’t have any if your machine shop did it right. That manifold/intake combo is a real PITA to seal up and the remflex is THE answer to your headaches. You can find them on eBay for cheaper than going directly through the website. I think I paid $45 as opposed to $75 or whatever the remflex site has them listed for.

Send the carb and dizzy to JimC for the desmog set up. I’m not sure if Mark’s off road does dizzy curves, but I know Jim has the equipment to do it.
Couldn't find these guys you were talking about on EBAY!
Would you please send over if you have a sec?

Dan

Is there an intake remflex that's equally as necessary?

Does my clutch assembly thingy look complete? I have no other parts for it, looks like from the diagrams there should be an arm or something.

Also is this the mounting nut or what? I have 4 of them/

Got away with one today guys. Was out checking on this clutch part and forgot to check the roofline above me for snow.... Was being a total idiot. Glad both the me and the cruisers okay! Only way I knew was one of the cornices broke 10 feet further down.

Not sure if you already have, but make sure the timing cover and HB are installed before you put the water pump on. It can be a pita to get the screws in there with the pump in place.
what's HB?
