Not much to report. Had it for a year and still have a lot on the to do list.
Running rich I believe, MPG is down to maybe 9mpg, no good.
Seems as though the CD player now works that its warmer out, who knew

as it so happens I did do something.
Got the idea from someone on here forever ago so I can’t really give credit but it works

Did the steering wheel mod
As in I saw a $3.75 clearance steering wheel cover and decided to give it ago.
It’ll do for now

Oh I should note that having the amazonbasics vent mounted phone thing has been very nice. I think it was like $10, and if you put it on the bottom vent louver it doesn't flop around. Much better than having my phone slide off the shift surround or fly out of the "cup holders".

Searched around and can’t seem to find a good answer- what kind of bolts are needed for mounting the tow hitch? Got one ready to go on but no bolts for it
BUMP
the info I found that was something like 1.25x12 was not correct- hot dog down a hallway. Hate to have to buy a bunch of random bolts but need to get my hitch mounted

Lots have changed lately.
had to move, but new place has a signicatly more diy friendly set up- massive detached garage and tons of parking.
Wife is expecting #4, so cruiser needs to be up and running as a back up sometime in the next year or so.
Still have to attend to everything.
Picked up this for a cool $1k- awd to boot. Not bad for a daily while I sort cruiser out:

Also, cruiser in front of new garage space:

I have the same little ticking dependent on speed on the passenger side. I took it to Mr Tire (yes, I know, but I like this one particular mechanic there) and he changed out the driver side CV joint, saying it was badly worn (I looked at the unit he pulled out, and it was), but the ticking remains. I'm just living with it. I suspect the passenger side may be wearing out. My 98 has 350K miles on the clock, so I'm pretty sanguine about it. I hope you do definitively determine what the noise is.

I really only notice it when I have the passenger window open and I am driving past a jersey barrier or a surface that sound bounces off of.
I was just looking at this thread and saw my original post. I finally tracked down the ticking. It turns out that a retaining spring was left off of the front brakes. Apparently it does no harm so I've just left it until I have reason to do something else to the truck. Just thought I'd mention.

Also, the back yard at this place has a huge gate that reminds me of a compound.
So what better way to make it feel more so than park a cruiser in front of it?

Some updates-
Had a company come out and wire wheel/rust preventative spray my frame.

They also patched the holes in the crossmembers and installed the tow hitch.
could I have done 75% of this work? Yes, but it’s been 16 months since I bought it and I had yet to get to it.

I installed the wiring harness and took mymaiden voyage to the landfill with the trash we’ve been accumulating over the past few weeks- it’s been a crazy month.
Was more than happy- couldn’t even tell the trailer was back there.

Filled up and was pleased with my hand calculated results- this is primarily stop and go as open roads at about 55-65 mpg, running 93.

I love your persistence with this thing. It's crusty, it's got over 300k, and it's got a good amount of wear. But you just keep after it. Bravo! I love seeing old trucks taken care of and brought back to good shape.

Love the new garage/workspace. Working on finding that for my family here too.

In hindsight buying a more sound truck would've been nice, but this truck works for me, and since i don't have to daily it now the necessary repairs are easier to live with.
It is in decent shape and for what I paid for it, even pre-covid, I got a really good deal so that also negates being upset- I knew what it needed when I bought it.

We are renting the place and not sure if we want to purchase after rent is up, but the garage and workspace is very very nice to have, and gives a strong idea of what I want (like I didn't already have an idea)

Snagged my fathers trailer to get some furniture.
Back it up straight on the 3rd try. Not bad for a guy who has trailered maybe 10 times in his life

The 5 year old interstate that was in the truck was having a hard time because I hadn’t driven the cruiser much over the summer and it sat for a month when I had COVID.
Got to the point where I’d have to jump it even if it started an hour before.

Put a “used” H7 into the silver cruiser about a month ago.
The “used” battery is actually new, it’s one that autozone commercial sold to a shop that for whatever reason didn’t end up selling it to their customer but may have installed it, so it can’t be resold as a new battery.

So yes, an H7 WILL FIT in a 100 series. You'll need some sort of spacer bracket and it'll sit a little over the edge of the tray, but I can confirm fit without issues.

$60 before core and it’s been firing right up.

In case you new spring for your shifter here is the PN:

I had bought a wood grain lx470 shifter from an 02 truck.
Didn’t think to ask the month of the truck, and ended up with a shifter from the 5 speed iteration.
Needless to say I managed to lose both springs working to put my old shifter back on.

Put everything back together and installed the transfer case extension from @LandCruiserPhil . Looks neat and cheap to boot:

I also added one of the third row seats in anticipation of shuttling some people tomorrow. This is a seat out of my crusty 2000 since the ones that came with this truck are buried in a storage unit.

On the subject of 3rd rows, I wonder if the 105 spec bench 3rd rows are a direct plug and play application

And I wonder if there is a PN for those roof racks and basket :pompous:

There was a post about that awhile ago and IIRC they do not line up with US spec cars
