Million dollar highway for this guy
Yeah planning out this route is probably just too much driving in a day for me. I might just do the shorter 6-6.5 hour drive all on pavement...I am probably down for this too
How long do you think it will take to do cinnamon/cali/hurricane? We are also headed out in Tuesday and plan on camping along cinnamon.Cinnamon is now open. The only 2 routes not open at this point are Poughkeepsie and the short section of CR2 from Animas Forks to the Placer/Picayne cutoff (doubtful either will be open). If you go over either Cinnamon or Engineer to Animas Forks, you'll need to continue west over California and Hurricane and drop into Silverton on 10/110.
I'm crossing over Cinnamon/Cali/Hurricane on Tuesday 7/23 towing my small trailer. Will provide a report back for those rolling in on that route on Wednesday.
I haven't gotten any reports on my backcountry gravel route yet (crossing Los Pinos Pass to Slumgullion and into Lake City). But, all indications are that it is clear and graded.
Our crew will be heading out of Moab to Silverton Wednesday AM.I'm heading into Silverton Wednesday morning from Grand Junction, but going the long way through Castle Valley and Moab. Anyone else coming from the Moab area on Wednesday?

that's a solid 2-3 hours of driving from Lake City... you're essentially doing half of the Alpine Loop at that point, just skipping Engineer headed the other way. also I suspect it's pretty tight at the top of California, judging by the snow pics from a couple days ago, so not something I'd want to take a trailer over. I took a trailer over Cinnamon last year and swore never again, just too slow and everything on the trailer got trashed from all the mud.How long do you think it will take to do cinnamon/cali/hurricane? And maybe one pair of underwear.

Took my truck to the mechanic this morning to get it realigned and ended up needing new CVs and steering rack! YAY for last minute mechanical stuff! Good news is, I’m not doing the work...bad news is I have to pay for the work...I get the truck back tomorrow and have one day to pack up and leave out Saturday! Going to stop in Tucumcari Saturday and Durango Sunday. Will be hanging out with @ga12r1 at Molas Lake for Monday and Tuesday. My 14 year old will be with me and is looking forward to fishing every chance he gets! @paflytyer he is looking forward getting some tips again from you! He’s been watching all kinds of fishing videos on YouTube to get ready!![]()
