I'm so pumped! 1 week from today I will be jammin down 285 looking at beautiful scenery!

Cinnamon is now open. The only 2 routes not open at this point are Poughkeepsie and the short section of CR2 from Animas Forks to the Placer/Picayne cutoff (doubtful either will be open). If you go over either Cinnamon or Engineer to Animas Forks, you'll need to continue west over California and Hurricane and drop into Silverton on 10/110.

I'm crossing over Cinnamon/Cali/Hurricane on Tuesday 7/23 towing my small trailer. Will provide a report back for those rolling in on that route on Wednesday.

I haven't gotten any reports on my backcountry gravel route yet (crossing Los Pinos Pass to Slumgullion and into Lake City). But, all indications are that it is clear and graded.
How long do you think it will take to do cinnamon/cali/hurricane? We are also headed out in Tuesday and plan on camping along cinnamon.

I'm heading into Silverton Wednesday morning from Grand Junction, but going the long way through Castle Valley and Moab. Anyone else coming from the Moab area on Wednesday?

Our crew will be heading out of Moab to Silverton Wednesday AM.

Depends. Are you hauling a trailer? I am hauling a small one and am budgeting 3.5 hours to get from Lake City to Silverton via Cinnamon/Cali/Hurricane/110. I tend to creep along and enjoy the scenery though, so your time might vary. Keep in mind, with the rapid snow melt, there could be a few small washouts to contend with that may slow the pace.

Cinnamon is roughly 24 miles from the turn off at the lake to Animas. Cali is about 4.5 miles to the Poughkeepsie intersection. Hurricane is 2.25 miles to the 10/110 cutoff (Corkscrew intersection). And, it's 7.25 miles from their to Silverton. So, you're looking at roughly 38 miles total at something like 10-12mph avg.

Not at all sure what the camping situations look like along Cinnamon. They had so much avalanche damage and I haven't seen any reports about camping areas.

that's a solid 2-3 hours of driving from Lake City... you're essentially doing half of the Alpine Loop at that point, just skipping Engineer headed the other way. also I suspect it's pretty tight at the top of California, judging by the snow pics from a couple days ago, so not something I'd want to take a trailer over. I took a trailer over Cinnamon last year and swore never again, just too slow and everything on the trailer got trashed from all the mud.

Good deal, I'm not sure when we'll be in Moab, but it's about a 2 hour drive from GJT and I'll probably stop to check out Fisher Towers on the way. Probably somewhere around 11:30am. You'll likely beat me out of Moab, but I'll keep my eyes open for you guys.

And maybe one pair of underwear.

C'mon, there's room for a second pair.

@Austin Hot Shoe your bird has landed. See you next week my friend.

If anyone sees a white '99 towing a Jayco Baja popup between Albuquerque and Silverton (HWY 550) on Wednesday, it's probably me. If you happen to get stuck behind me between Durango and Silverton, I'm sorry. I try to pull over when I can to let people pass. If you see me pulled over with the hood up, I would appreciate you stop and check on me.

Been there for the last few days. This info is not totally correct. Big update coming in the next few hours.

Took my truck to the mechanic this morning to get it realigned and ended up needing new CVs and steering rack! YAY for last minute mechanical stuff! Good news is, I’m not doing the work...bad news is I have to pay for the work...I get the truck back tomorrow and have one day to pack up and leave out Saturday! Going to stop in Tucumcari Saturday and Durango Sunday. Will be hanging out with @ga12r1 at Molas Lake for Monday and Tuesday. My 14 year old will be with me and is looking forward to fishing every chance he gets! @paflytyer he is looking forward getting some tips again from you! He’s been watching all kinds of fishing videos on YouTube to get ready! 😜
