Saran Wrap and Eagle Rock Trip with @Andrew Bluemel. Got to winch a jeep stuck on both his diffs, and managed to wreck the non existent t-case skid plate. Somehow bent both rear lower control arms too :bang:

Andrew has a pretty sweet 80 with some 37s under it

Maybe time for some real armor.

Let me know if you want some stock rear control arms, i've got a hook up those. $35 plus shipping from Seattle

Sounds like a good plan, both of my cats were replaced the week before I bought it back in June so I'll be trying to keep them both. They are already turned so i'm hoping for just a cat-back rework for more clearance and flow.

AA Performance Muffler in Denver - Scottie knows 80's and does excellent work. They're on Broadway.

Yeah, I don't quite get how some of us get good mpg and others not. However I do know I have gotten 14mpg several times before. I went 225 mapped miles on a trip back from Moab, and when I filled up had 9 gallons left. Averaged like 14.1 or something. That included topping off as well. Who knows maybe the 40s help:steer:

I get 14 highway on 37's with 5.29's at our altitude. 40's match 5.29's closer to stock gear/tire ratio (I'm about 18% low compared to stock) so no reason why 40's should be overly penalized.

Definitely better than all those poor people running 33's on stock gears :hillbilly:.

Nice build!

So this is far from perfect, but yay or nay? I'm liking the look.

Gonna have to see that in person! haha Tomorrow!

@ExpoMax, hit me up next time you head out. I'll roll with you...on my tiny 33's. Also, Bud's muffler did the exhaust on mine. Custom bent all the pipes and installed the magna flow downpipes. did great work. At Circle and Galley.

oh, and digging the look!

Rear Bumper Build Pt1:

Plan was to make it as high clearance as you can get without bobbing the truck, same sort of thinking as @jcardona1.
I chopped over 4 inches off the frame rails, making it ultra high clearance. But trying to throw a spare into the equation made this hard to do. I was trying to figure out the best way to mount a tire for days. Having a swing out was not going to be possible because I tucked a 2x2x1/4" tube in between the frame rails and tailgate. So to hold a spare I decided to make a swing down, and just use a giant bolt to hold it up.

Fits quite well with a 1in body lift

Used a Trail Tailor Spindle, and just mounted it sideways.

Capped the frame rails. Welded some more 2x2x1/4" tube to the spindle, and added a brace to the right to hold it up. Sometime I will probably add another to the left for some extra security.

Finished welding everything up, added some braces and what not, then threw some black paint on it. Oh also got a tire! The bottom of my spare is right on with my departure angle off the frame rails. Its not nearly as close to the hatch as I was aiming for, but now I have an option to add a high lift and shovel behind the tire.

I sure don't want to follow you down the road and end up with a 40 inch tire in my lap

Looking forward to the pictures from this weekend. The 80s had a good showing with next to no trouble out there.

I have been really tired of how far that TG winch plate sticks out. If I can't hit stuff at an angle I just slam into it. So I decided to make a new one. Still in progress... but only sticks past the frame rails by 1in. Ultimate approach angle :). Also wanted to get into the light game so I mounted 6 48w LED lights on top of that. A 7th one will be added in the middle soon. Then making my own ditch light brackets tomorrow, as well as mounting some flush mounted LEDS in the rear wing, and a 52in light bar for the roof up front! Can't wait to blind everything in my path :p

And yes I know, I need to line up all the lights so they are even....Actually going to go do that now, driving me nuts.

Dang dude, nice job on thinking outside the box. You'll have an extra foot of clearance on Whale Tail next time!
