it works great!
nah...why waste the $25?

How long has it been since you lubed the head gasket? Haha I had a similar but not so loud noise about a month ago. I tracked it down to one of the heims on my steering assist cylinder. How about your tie rod ends? How long since you took a look at the trunnion bearings?
All the wheel bearings, including trunnion bearing are about 2 years old, maybe 3. TRE are brand new...

Good news bad news I guess.
Good news is if I run out of peanut butter, I can bust open the knuckle for a backup supply.

There was casualty from our last trip....before and after. I tried straightening it by running it over a bunch of times.

alas, time for a stem

I bent mine as well last May on Fordyce. Got a new one for like $25.

So what’s that creek sound coming from? Time for a well lit inspection for cracks everywhere forward if the firewall. Pan hard bushings good??? Did you already mention this?

Well you definitely need to go in there

no way man, that is perfect grease:) Its what happens when the red wheel bearing grease mixes with the brown molybdenum disulfide grease...from now on, no more wheel bearing grease, EP Moly for everything!

I’ve been using moly grease in/on everything that gets greased for at least two decades. Has worked well for me.

Ok, wtf is this? Passenger side. It is popping and locking like a breakdancer from 1983.New video by Noah Daniels - https://photos.app.goo.gl/QgeLmfGh7XspBmCDA

i checked the radius arm holes to make sure they aren’t wallowed out. I checked the pan hards and rear links, all tight. I double checked the tie rod and drag link. Looked for cracks...

springs moving around or something in the knuckle?
You can literally see the track bar moving in the bracket when it creaks. You're welcome

I think you are beating me in te body damage department now. Haha

The photos you guys post make me wish I was closer so we could wheel together more often.

Thank you...good eye. I stared for days and didn't see that

I'm not sure there was an issue in the first place as I think it was just red moly grease, but since I can't remember for sure, I pulled the axles, repacked the birfs, inspected the wheel bearings, and put everything back together. Better safe than sorry...

Did you pull the trunnion bearing to inspect and re grease ?

I use Lucas red moly and they always look the same as they go in just a little darker.

You must have got a little bit of water in it and it got blended.

That's also a ton of grease. I use about half a tube to 3/4 max. You don't need that much in there. It's just a pain to clean out next time.

The cavity should be ~3/4 full, which is what it is.

I replaced my trunnion bearings with life savers so I'm good...

Nothing Like doing half of a job, by the way with look of your tone ring I think you had water in the too :p

all fixy fixy for now, new bushings in the panhard, re-torqued everything int eh front to spec, repacked the birfs and knuckles....excited for the next trip. Once it is done, I will build up a new front axle as this one looks. bit bent, couldn't get the axle shaft out with the knuckle on:( I will build a new, stronger axle one way or another, if this housing is good when I get it on the bench, well...who knows what I will do with it.

The axle housing tapers down at the ends, and it looks like the picture was taken at a funny angle.
Not sue why your axle did not want to come out, it's a big hole that the Axle go's through. what was it stuck on
I would think that if your axle housing is bent you would be having other issues.
Is the noise in the video fixed ?

I think the birfield and inner shaft would not come out of the knuckle. Possibly because the inner shaft was binding and not allowing it to come straight out.

Had a good time at Sand Hollow with @Broski and @mustcamp. Last trip of the season for me. Going to start my winter projects here shortly...here are a bunch of pics, but this was a fun one
